Are stories approved slower when it’s a niche kink?

Whenever I submit a mdom/fsub story, they’re approved within 3 days. But now that I’ve submitted a msub/fdom story, it’s taken more than 17 days. I originally submitted it on October 27th and it was pending for nearly two weeks. I figured there might have been a tech problem, so I resubmitted it. It’s still pending . I don’t mean to complain about the slowness. I just think it’s funny that it’s taking so damn long when my other stories would get approved almost instantly.

Is this long of a wait normal or is there a tech problem? I understand they have lots of stories to approve. I’m just wondering. Thanks.

We're in contest season... Halloween and now Winter Holiday. Contest and event stories get priority. That's probably all it is.

We must be going through a slow period. My story has been pending for 8 days, which might be a record for me. It's not that long, it's not AI-generated, and it doesn't have any remotely borderline content. My norm is 3-4 days from submission to publication. You are not alone.

It might also depend on the length of the story. Shorter stories are probably processed more quickly.

New poems and illustrated stories usually take the longest.

Contest entries are the quickest.
