The problem has been for some time that they do not value their customers. The owner (male) and I had a falling out early on and though we've repaired some of the damage since, it's never been totally fixed. This guy is a sad sack and he blames everyone for things - save for himself, which is one of the main issues. He's tough to work for and far too demanding - he wants perfection and doesn't understand why he doesn't get it. Because you're a grouch, irritable and impatient, perhaps? He can be very friendly and upbeat, but it is rarer. The wife is much more pleasant, but she too, has her moments.

I see the signs that point to their closing and as much as I like the place, I can understand why. What saddens me is I think it could be a gold mine with the right management and a few other people with Miranda's work ethic.

They've been closed for an hour, so I'm a bit surprised she hasn't responded to my text or mail, unless she went right home (she lives above the cafe) and went to bed or didn't check her phone. All I can say is what happens next is now up to her - I have made my stance clear.

It's a shame to see it go, because it's been so nice to relax in and is (most nights) a quiet atmosphere. I don't like noisy, busy places.

You don't want to be in Alberta this time of year SIENNA.

They REALLY have snow now. Calgary has had a particularly rough year, after the floods this past summer (not quite as bad as the ones from Hurricane Katrina in the US, but bad enough)

Miranda is responsible (although I wish she'd answer her mail or message or let me know she got it) and they don't know how lucky they are to have her.

I was friends (only) with two other members of their staff. One nearly got fired (she quit) because he found her "too friendly" (he thought flirty) with the customers (she wasn't, it is the type of girl she was) and that is where he and I had our falling out. The other girl and I were friends and it was the same issue - we'd only chat when it was dead and she was always happy to see me. Why he wants his staff to be all-business is beyond me. Does he not see that social interaction is why many people will patronize one business over another? He really doesn't - we've discussed it, he thinks it should be all about the product. It does NOT work that way.

I still find it hard to believe this guy taught business at University (in Liverpool, oddly)
