Shreck!

Am I the only one who didn't like this movie?

It had some funny parts, but it was not what everyone made it to be. I had a couple of people at work saying it was the best movie, and so hilarious. *shrugs* I rented it and though, "ah, it's okay."

It had some funny parts, but for a children's movie, I don't think they should have had Shrek say "I'm saving my ass." I know neighborhood kids who are now saying that all the time. Just not right, if you ask me.

The favorite part about the movie was the karaoke session at the end. That at least made me laugh. :)

Just watched it with some family members who are ready to kill me because we stayed home to watch Shrek instead of going to a theatre to see a "good movie." Oops. My bet is that the people who love Shrek are also the people who love Monty Python. Am I right?

I didn't care much for the first half hour, but it got better. And it actually had a plot, a storyline, which I liked. I did laugh at parts of it though. I'll have to watch again.

The movie is rated PG but we let our kids see it and we bought them the movie. Luckily mine are still young enough that they just say, "Oh, he shouldn't have said that word." I suppose the fear of having their mouths washed out with soap apparently works. I agree they shouldn't use those words in kid movies but we watch the movies with our kids and discuss what should and shouldn't be repeated. The worse part of life is that these are words that they hear on a semi-daily basis at school or on the bus and my son's school only goes up to 4th grade.

My parents let me watch some movies with cuss words in them when I was young and look how fucking wonderful I turned out.

:D

Much love to Shrek, though I enjoyed Monsters Inc more. There is something that irks me about mixing a medieval theme and pop culture - I dunno, that's just the roleplayer in me. Monsters Inc was much more visually stimulating (other computer geeks will recognize the incredible achievement of the detail on Sully's fur) and the story seemed to evoke more genuine emotions. It was pretty funny to hear all the girls in the theater go "Awwwww" every time they showed that kid. The door chase was the most exciting bit of directing in a children's movie I've ever seen.

Go see it :)
