Hey everyone,
Anyone want to share what books, movies, tv shows, comics and games we are all enjoying at the moment.
Books:
Currently, I am have just started "A Clockwork Orange" at the moment. In all honesty, I am struggling with the use of English in the prose. It is hard to be sure what is going on, but is that intentional i.e. is the story designed to be difficult to read or was it intentionally inaccessible?
However, I am weirdly enjoying it despite not fully understanding what is going on! Has anyone else read the book?
I know there is a Kubrick film based on the book. I haven't seen it, but I am aware of the scene where they bind the woman and expose her breasts. Has anyone else seen that scene?
Film:
I recently saw Spiderman: Brand New Day and I must admit I really enjoyed it. I haven't been keeping up with all the Marvel projects since Endgame as I felt there was a definitve drop in the Quality of Marvel's output post-Endgame but this film delivered for me.
It is still only a new release so I will keep it spoiler-free but Tom Holland really comes into his own as the titular hero. I like Zendaya's portrayal of MJ more than the Rami trilogy's portrayal of MJ. Jon Bernthal is used to great effect throughout the film whilst hinting at his tragic backstory and Sadie Sink was an inspired choice for the film. All in all, really enjoyed the movie and would recommend.
TV Shows:
This week I started the new season of Reacher. I enjoy this series as the action scenes are well-shot and there is enough of a plot to keep the story moving.
As an aside, as an Irishman it is funny trying to keep up with all the abbreviations for US agencies i.e. CIA, Delta-Force, FBI, etc.
I've only seen the first 3 episodes but so far I am enjoying it.
Comics:
I started the original 1962 Spider-Man comic and really enjoyed it. The story is pretty similar to the Rami films indicating that they were a mostly faithful adaptation, albeit updated for the early 2000's setting.
The artwork is beautiful and the storyline is fantastic. I am looking forward to reading more of Spider-Man's adventures from the 60's.
Games:
I am also playing Assassin's Creed Origins on the PC and am hooked on this game and am thoroughly enjoying it.
The storyline exploring the beginnings of the Assassin's order is impactful and the games play loop is solid.
The world itself is varied and beautiful from the Lighthouse of Alexandria to the swamps of Memphis, I am loving exploring this open world!
