Shifters..Open..

Tasia thought about the question, hard. What would happen if they played a hellacious trick like that on the snooty bastard across the way. The more she thought of it, the happier she got..until her smile seemed to almost crack her face.

"Ya know, I think we should try it. It's for damned sure he doesn't deserve the respect the girl gets from us. After all, she doesn't seem to want to hurt or harm, just learn. I don't like him though and if there is a way to make it so I don't have to hurt him physically...that's even better. But..."

Her voice trailed off to a low growl...

"As watcher for this meet, if he does anything I deem inappropriate or likely to cause trouble for us in the world...he will die and to hell with the other problems it could cause."

Another grin, cold and almost scary

"However, your way seems so much more fun. How do you think we could accomplish it?"

Tai smiled, and started drawing with a charred stick, laying out plans. "The way I see it, we can use the mist that will be coming in later tonight as a backdrop. Granted, we may have to discuss this with the young lady. She may offer to help though, as she would know what would scare him the most. We can appear in our animal forms, and make him think the animals themselves are warning him to be nicer. Or we could fake a sacrifice of him. Make him think we are going to sacrifice him to some dark god, and then let her break the news to him. I saw some good herbs for hallucinogens." He grinned widely, getting more and more into the idea.

Rimac had finished his meat and shifted back to his human form, laying on his stomach. All the while he had been listening to the conversation talking place about the humans.

"If it's a fake sacrifice you're wanting, I can help with that. I know all the rituals, incantations, and requirements for a sacrifice to Quezecotl. My people do it every day, although not so much human sacrifice anymore"

Shit Kara thought.. I am slipping.. and Conners hand is just a few inches out of my .. Her eyes widdend as she slipped..

Kara fell landing hard enough to knock the wind from her body for a few moments she didnt know how far down she was, but glad that she had mannaged to avoid the spikes landing on a narrrow ledge..

Her head and wrist hurt from where she landed but she was awake, and able to move. She would assess the acutal damage once she got out..

Getting slowly to her feet Kara was careful she didnt want the ledge to curmble and go crashing down the rest of the way and land on the spikes..

Looking up she could see that there was no way for her to climb out..Connor!.. I think there is a Rope in my Pack you can Use to Get me Out! Hurry I dont Know how long this ledge will hold.! She yelled up at him vowing not to let herself be distracted ever again when serching thru ancent runes no matter how curious she was, about a race or guy..

Yea right.. like you could keep that promise.. Kara laughed at herself.. Knowing that she would do it again in a heart beat... Just to ask questions.. even tho she would prefer to ask them with out almost getting herself killed.

"Shite!" Connor blurted out as Kara slipped away from him. Thankfully she landed on a ledge, so she was relatively safe for the time being.

Connor!.. I think there is a Rope in my Pack you can Use to Get me Out! Hurry I dont Know how long this ledge will hold.!

Connor looked around quickly, confirming that they were alone. He quickly snatched up her pack and quickly found the rope. As he lowered an end down to her, he clenched his teeth and focused on the movement of his muscles and bones. His green eyes turned bright yellow and his muscles began to bulge. The sandy hair on his arms became thicker and longer, and his nails turned black.

As soon as Kara had a firm grip on the rope, he stood at the edge of the pit and lifted her out as if she weighed nothing. He set her down on the ground safely and the signs of his partial transformation began to fade away. "Just so ye know, I took a big risk by doin' that. I've broken enough rules as it is by tellin' ye all I have."

Kara blushed hearing Connors words... He was right she had been foolish, he had risked enough awncering her questions, and even more by doing what he had. She owed him her life.

Thank you... your right.. i am sorry..We should go back. I have all the pics i need. Picking up her pack she concentrated on the floor infront of her and made her way back outside with out any more accidents.

Kara didnt look or speak to Connor until they returned to camp and she walked him to his tent. It wasnt that she didnt want to talk to him but she didnt want to create more problems than they already had. Good night Connor. Thank you for your company and saving my neck..I owe you more then i can repay. Turning she left and slipped into her own tent.

Damn it why did i have to let my curiosity get the better of me...Sighing she set her pack down and paused before changing when she heard Ian call out..Kara.. can i come in?

What do you want Ian? she asked opening the tent flap and standing in the door way, not letting him enter the tent. i just wanted to know if you had found out anything usefull for your thesis?

Yea right he probly just wants to see if i have any material he can use, or if i still belive in my Lycan therory.. No Ian you were right .. i told you that earler and no i havent started writing my thesis yet.. Have you?? The look on Ian's face told her he hadnt, and was just wanting to be an ass..

Remember were leaving in the morning to return to the village.. So Connor had better stay in his own tent... Was Ian Jellous? No way..Karas silver eyes flashed her anger, as she stood her ground.Whats that supposed to mean?... she asked.. Ian glared.Nothing.

Kara smiled her eyes narrowed as her arms crossed over her chest so she didnt give in to the temptation to hit him..Good because its none of your damnd buisness what i do as long as it dosent affect our work, and if i want to take some one to my bed i will... I wouldnt date you 2yrs ago Ian i wont date you now ether good bye..

With that she closed her tent flap and nearly jumped out of her skin because Connor had slipped in underneath the back wall of the tent. God dont do that you scared me.. she said only half joking. As she moved to sit down on her cot..

"I'm sensin' there's some history between you and Indiana Wanker over there." Connor was by no means urging her to disclose any information. He certainly could care less what past issues she may have had with him, as he just seemed like an overall disagreeable person to begin with. No doubt he had pissed off and offended a lot of people in his time, and Kara was just one more name on the list.

"I just came by to let you know that the things I've told ye can't leave this jungle. My kind have lived amongst humans before the Romans or even the Vikings began attacking the Isles. You're obviously smart and open-minded enough to accept that we exist. But the rest of the world isn't. And my people aren't prepared to be outed just yet.

"I'm sorry Kara, but the world isn't ready. When they find out shapeshifters exist, they'll start askin' more questions. Once they're done rounding up and either studying or exterminating us, they'll find out what else is out there. There's a lot goes on at night that you humans only got half-right in your folk stories."

Kara listened to Connor speak and felt even worse for asking her questions then what she already did and was already on the defensive from her confrentation with Ian. Kara kept her voice low so that no one out side of the tent would hear their conversation.. but she really wanted to yell. I know that.. why do you think i told Ian he was right and that the runes showed only human sacrefice and the feeding of human hearts to warshiped jaguars... which is true to a point.

Look i am not going to do anything that will hurt your kind if i can avoid it. I am not even going to write my thesis about you.. i was simply curious. As far as i am concerend and my professers will be concerned we didnt find anything they didnt already know.
Kara stood unable to sit on her bed any longer and waited to see what he would say if anything.

"I needed to make sure," Connor answered evenly. "I didn't want to have to hurt anybody to keep our secret."

A lot of the mirth that usually accompanied him seemed to have left. In it's place was a cold sobriety. "If you want to learn more about us, you're going to have to make an excuse to stay here. The tribes will not meet like this again for another four years, and then it's unlikely you'll see the same ones again. For all you know, you could arrive there and soon find yourself in several lycanthrope stomachs within a minute."

Kara ran her fingers thru her hair, and begain pacing..I know but if i stay Ian and the others will get suspissios and start looking and i dont want to bring them to you.. the only safe option i have for everyone is to leave with them in the morning... Bitting her bottom lip she stopped pacing and sat down on her cot again. Looking at Ian she said..I'll just have to pray i wont be eaten when i come back in 4yrs on my own.... wait how long dose your gathering last?? I know its another question you dont want to awncer but.. if its at least two weeks long then i can retrun, on my own after graduation.

Tasia listened with rapidly mounting glee as Tai and Rimac sketched out some plans for the pompous ass back in the human camp. Her happy eyes took on more of a feral cast as they discussed faking a human sacrifice. Even Tai seemed to understand that they had a better chance of this working if they could involve Kara.

"Hmm I wonder if Kara woiuld object to being the *fake* sacrifice. It would give our plan a little bit of realism AND since our resident Wolf has taken a liking to her, it would give her a bit more time to see what it is we do."

Tasia shrugged and then stripped down, delighting in the moist heat against her smooth flesh.

"Ya know, maybe I should just try and get her attention at the camp or at least Connor's. Have her find an excuse to come here before the moon rises."

With a wave, Tasia moved away, allowing the transformation to come as it willed. By the time she reached the otherside of the clearing, a small fox had replaced her human form. She burrowed under the underbrush and was gone.

A few minutes later, Tasia had located Kara's tent. It seemed that Connor was in there with her. 'Ah, well..." Tasia rustled around, trying to make enough noise to be noticed by someone inside and then melted back in to the woods.

Tai continued his sketches, then looked up, trying to figure out a good place to hold the fake sacrifice. He was rapidfire-questioning Rimac about his people's ways, as he had never taken the time to study that particular culture. He had a notebook out, and started writing, the script seeming almost alien. He was making notes, looking up every so often to verify Rimac's facial expression.

Rimac did his best to describe the older sacrifice ritual. He remembered it quite well as he himself had performed an animal sacrifice once or twice, and the human one wasn't much different at all. He described how the 'alter' would have to be somewhere with an open view of the sun for a midday ritual, or a view of the east for an evening one. Evenings were often the best as they always bathed everything in red. He described the braziers to be used, the style of knife, and even the ceramonial headdress.

Rimac felt proud that he was able to recall the rituals so precisely. Being of Incan descent, these rituals would have to be exact if everything wanted to go without a hitch, for they would be quite recognisable

Cascall relaxed even more when his shoulders received Niabi´s massage. He took a while to answer her question.

"Hard to say. The woman seemed harmless enough. I don´t like it though. Her friends may be a threat. If they turn out as that i think they will be dealt with. In one way or another."

He turns his head to look back at her. A calming smile on his lips.

Conner hadnt awncered her question and that was fine she would simply come back in 4yrs, by then she would have enough she hoped to travle anywhere she wanted as often as she liked, but that she knew was a dream.. she had enough to make the trip back here after graduation and return home but that was it for now...

Kara thought she had heard a sound outside, but couldnt be sure.. She hoped that Ian hadnt been listing to anything that they had been talking about and that it was just her immagination.

After Connor left the tent Kara stripped her clothing down so that she was wearing only her tangtop, and unerwear. She took her hair down allowing it to flow around her, before pulling out her labtop and curling up on her cot to work on her paper.

Closing her laptop an hour later Kara was satisfied with her paper, and the fact that she had kept her promise to the Lycans. Nothing in her paper idicated the runes she had uncoverd nor her theroy, or any of the other things she had learnd. It was the same old hum drum report every other up and comming archeologist had written up before.

Yawning and stretching she put her laptop way and curled up under the blanket of her cot to sleep..

Tai continued writing, putting in small sketches as well, as he continued to listen to the Incan Lycan, his mind formulating a plan. The last piece, as he saw it, was letting Kara know what was going on. He tore out a piece of paper, and wrote a quick message, detailing their plans, and their request that she be the fake sacrifice.

Kara had almost been asleep when she noticed a peace of paper slide under her tent flap... getting slowly out of bed she wondered what Ian was playing at now, and picked up the paper to read it... Seeing the same runes she had found on the walls she sat down and pulled her labtop back out tobegain translating it so that she could read what it said..

Running her fingers thru her hair and sitting back on the cot when she was done Kara wondered what they were thinking... True it would scare Ian alright and the rest of the crew but... It could also start a war, and bring more than just Ian and the others down on top of them then what they wanted or needed as well as distroy their beautiful meeting grounds..

Kara had to slip out of her tent after all and go to them to talk to them.. Kara made sure to delete what she had translated and burn the paper the Lycans had slipped into her tent.

Getting dressed she left her hair down not bothering to take the time and pull it up feeling that gettitng to the Lycans was more important than her hair..

Kara looked around after leaving her tent making sure that Ian hadnt stayed awake and followed her, she made her way to Connors tent... Connor.....connor... damn it she thought..Connor.. Figuring he may have joined the others at the falls and planned on returning in the morning Kara slipped thru the trees and made her own way..

Making sure to go to the runes first so that anyone follwing her would be thrown off track. Hello Kara... Meeting someone are you? Damn..Kara stopped half way up the steps to the runes... no wonder she hadnt seen Ian in the camp he had been waiting for her. As a matter of fact i am what dose it matter to you? Kara said watching a slow grin spread across Ians face as he begain moving twards her.

Waiting for Connor?... I wonder what he will think of you if he finds you with me insted... Shit.. Kara noticed the canteen in Ians hand and from the smell she knew he had been drinking.. Ian your drunk.. go back to your tent and well talk in the morning... Ian stoped and glaired at her.. You would like that wouldnt ya... i dont think so not this time.... i am not letting you get away again..

Kara turned to run as Ian reached for her..

Tai watched, having planted the suggestion in Ian's head to go drinking. He stepped out of the shadows, only in her line of sight, staying out of Ian's. He stepped quietly up behind Ian, and stuck a small pin in the back of his neck, coated with a hallucinagen. He then transformed into his Draconic form, and stepped out from behind Ian, speaking quietly.

"Sir, I believe you should leave her alone."

After watching Connor come and go...and noting that Kara had never come out to check the rustling, Tasia stayed hidden, watching with interest as Tai planted the thought of *just a drink* into Ian's already pissy mind. *Shit, I knew they shoulda had the dragon do watcher duty!!* she thought, half cynically to herself.

She had just about decided to go back to the waterfalls when she heard the commotion. Ian was behaving badly, Connor wasn't around and Tai had decided to move up the stakes. Tasia focused for just one moment, willing the change to regress, but only half way. After the slight discomfort, she had added about a foot to her tiny stature, kept the snout and reddish fur, and was able to walk seductively on her hind legs..with a gorgeous plume of tail to help her balance.

She eased out from her hiding spot, just enough so that Tai would see her.

Tai nodded almost imperceptibly, smiling slightly, as he looked at Ian, hoping the hallucinagen would take effect even more quickly with the alcohol already coursing through Ian's system. He smiled, looking over his shoulder at Kara. "You will do nicely for the sacrifice."

He sent a short mental image to her. ~Play along~

Right away, I noticed just where Tai was going with this little charade, I stepped out further and made my way behind Kara, slipping my left arm/paw tightly around her waist. I was pretty sure (like most draconics) that Tai had warned her..at least mind to mind...but I wanted to stop her flight and see what else Rimac and Tai had come up with.

"Shhh, Kara." I whispered in what I could only hope was a soothing tone. "If we don't do this, I may have to kill him..and I know you don't want that."

ohh shit she handnt gotten to warn them....it had gone from bad to worse.. ok think she could play along.. maybe in the morning if they got him back to his tent he would think it was just the alcohal...

Kara pretened to try and run as well as fight after the half fox half female let her know that things would be alright.. she even mannaged to try and yell but allowed the fox to cover her mouth before she could get it out...

When they arrived at their destination Kara was in awe, and couldnt hide the small shiver of fear that went up her spine. She had to remind herself that this was to be a fake sacrifice.

Tai smiled, and tried to look menacing, though he couldn't help but be amused by how willing Kara was. He tied her gently to the dias they had constructed, where Rimac waited to preside over the 'ceremony'. Tai had slipped a splatter packet inside Kara's dress, along with something to make it tear. They had already made a duplicate of her outfit, hoping to make Ian think he was seeing something that Kara would deny in the morning. He stepped to one side, and looked around at the others, as Rimac started to speak.

I stood in a corner, grinning fiendishly. I mean really, how could I help it? I had a fox snout and teeth for crying out loud! Tai and Rimac had done a lot of the prep work whilst I had been busily babysitting.

I laughed out loud as I noticed how wild Ian's eyes began to look, his face flushed with alcohol and fear. It was going to be hard to control the younger ones among us..after all...fear scent was an aphrodisiac to some of us. It didn't matter though..if Tai had done his job, poor Ian would only remember this as some delusional drunken dream. And may, just maybe..I could let him live to leave our moot.

Connor stood at the edge of the clearing, hidden in shadows and watching the whole thing. He was never one to pass on a practical joke, but this wasn't as funny as he'd thought it would be. He would just lay low for a while and wait. This group seemed to know what they were doing.
