I find the dress/gown style more sexy than the all holes open pictures. Am I the only one? Don't get me wrong I love it all, I just find the ritual of 'dressing' a woman like this sexier than simply wrapping a rope around her breasts and telling her to bend over... If you are going to practice an art form, make it art... But then this is only the opinion of an inexperienced noob.

You are a very intelligent woman...and I love the way you express yourself...I too think rope work is beautiful and wicked hot sexy...thank you for explaining some of the beginners terms ...maybe more people will read and pique their interest...I think, like most things, ropework is an aesthetic. Some will like it others will not. Just as some love leather, others are excited by lace etc. In addition to the look of rope against the body (in whatever configuration – simple, complicated, intricate, primarily artistic or primarily bondage), is the physical experience of being bound by ropes.
I started this thread because I am fascinated by ropework in all of its configurations. I guess I am a bit of a rope bunny (a relatively new term for me – but apt, nonetheless). I am continually amazed at the variety of configurations of ties that can be achieved- even the most simple karada (I think Mr. Happy – this is one of the most common open work torso ties, classic example below) seems to have an infinite number of variations.
I spent years in my youth climbing rocks and acquired a deep appreciation and reverence for the ropes that I used and relied upon as a safety for my life. I became skilled in the knots essential for that activity. Over time I added to my rope and knot skills as I became a good sailor and learned to take care of myself in the wilderness. Hanks of rope have, it seems, always been a part of my recreational life.
And so, it has been a natural progression to add rope work to my/our kink life. I find that the preparation of the ropes as they are applied to my body by my Dom is extremely erotic and makes me feel “tied” to him both literally and emotionally. I do not have control over the way he chooses to place the rope on me…it is part of my submission. I both love the feel of the rope against my skin, the way it constricts my body and my breath and the marks it leaves on me.
However… again – this is simply a matter of taste and preference, just as any other kink that anyone has here. I would not criticize anyone for whom this is not their taste. I am sure there are other threads that feature material more to your liking… or find and post ropework that is to your taste- please! I think that most would be surprised how complicated and difficult even the most “simple”-looking of these body ties are and how time consuming they are to complete while keeping the pyl safe. Ropework should be undertaken carefully and with education and or supervision as rope ties can cause pressure and damage in a remarkably short time to tender nerves or can compress critical circulation.
enjoy rope safely.

I love this kind bondage and I hope others will be inspired to contribute here too.
A few safety notes about rope work/ restraints: Bondage is never risk free, even with the most experienced and safety conscious bondage rigger. You can significantly reduce your risk if you work with someone who is experienced and knows what they are doing (these are not necessarily the same thing.)
Engage in rope work only after understanding the risks and be sure to act with caution. Ropes can cause pressure on the anatomy in a way that can cause pain, pressure on blood vessels (restricting blood flow to critical organs like your brain), and can place pressure on nerves which if not relieved quickly can cause permanent nerve damage.
Please be smart. These images can be inspirational, but do not engage in these activities without proper education and care. PYL – keep your pyl safe. pyl’s – be sure to look out for your own safety and safe word if needed.
