My eldest daughter just came by to so me the engagement ring that she bought for her long time boyfriend! They have had an exclusive relationship for 5-6 years, and they have said that they would marry for 3 or 4. She just desided that "It was time that someone had the balls to do something!"

It got me to thinking, how many of you gals have those kind of balls? And how many of you guys chased her 'till she caught you?

I'ts not about balls. It's about so many other things. My friend of many years, when asked in public when we are going to get married, says: "When ever she me asks to." We talk about it in private too.....but marriage isn't for everyone. And talking about that kind of comittment isn't about balls......it is about something else......aww.....why did you bring this topic up?

I don't propose, I beat him over the head and lock him in the closet without food or water until he has the sense to do it himself. But thats me :D

Really, he asked after knowning me for a whole 6 days. He met my family, the horse, and skipped the rest of them. Me, in my 18 year old sheer brilliance, or sheer ignorance, said, and I quote, "I was in jail. Oh yeah, yeah."

I am not sure who did the actual proposing. We had been together for 2 years, I decided I wanted an engagement ring & he said okay. We picked one out at the store that I work at & he wanted to buy it for me & surprise me with it. I get a store discount & had an additional discount coupon, so I ended up buying it, he paid the credit card bill & we saved over 100.00. Romance is all well & good but 100.00 took us out to a really nice restaurant. Sometimes you've just got to be practical. Congratulations to your daughter, Samurai, I wish them all the best.

YEA! for romance!

Hey Sammikins! Congrats to your oldest baby and her beau!

It's hard to guess what really goes on behind closed doors, so good for her that she recognized what she wants and decided to go for it. What a bright girl you raised, be proud!

I found myself in a similar situation this past summer. The timing was just right for me, us. And it is no overstatement to say I was scared shitless in the asking, needlessly of course. Having been burned by matrimonial hell once before, I said "No" and "let's wait" and "we'll see" for a good 2 - 2 1/2 years and so finally I decided to super surprise him and do the asking.

I'll always be glad I did.

Mufferoo, I could never try to trick or starve him into anything, those things don't involve my hands on his ass. :p

I guess, I am old fashion in my thinking that the guy should propose but this is the new millenium. I hope he says yes.

I beat him to the propoal, but only by a blink.

Tell your daughter best wishes.
