Okay, pet peeve time - what is your pet peeve?

My current fave is when you answer a personal ad, start to get to know the person, and then they dissappear off the face ofthe earth; no emails, no "fuck off and die" just silence.

This happened to me lsat week with a particular Yahoo ad. I had a girl I dated a few years ago do the same thing.

I can take rejection, but the silent treatment always pisses me off. Why do people think they should do this when, if they had to ever see you again, or if you had mutual friends where somebody/somewhere would hear about it - they would otherwise be nice enough to say, "thanks, but no thanks" - or at least "drop dead"?

They think because they can just dissappear, that it is okay to go ahead and do it - leaving someone hanging in space wondering where they went. Is it just me, or does this seem like such an act is very rude and inconsiderate to you to?

Okay, I've got that off my chest - time for your pet peeve.

And do NOT feed the trolls! My being gone is NO excuse!

when someone you feel close to comes on line and quickly makes themself "invisible" until they decide to message you. I don't mind if they are on line and don't contact me for a bit, but the invisible thing is very insulting.

Well, if you call sitting in a hospital watching a loved one with tubes coming and going from every orifice, lapsing in and out of conciousness, a vacation - it went okay.

The loved one now has fewer tubes going in and out, is off the morphine and should be home in a few days. I came home because I wasn't needed there anymore and I needed to do something here to help another sick family member.

I hate it when ones I love are sick and all I can do is watch - I would rather be sick myself.

I don't mind if they lie; they don't have to tell me I am too ugly, too old, too stupid, or too boring - just tell me that they are not interested in one way or another and I will be on my way. But to sound nice, pay a few compliments and then disappear?

When my phone rings and i run madly around the house to find it (because it's always where i left it last and never where i happen to be at the time) and by the time i get there, voice mail has picked up and whoever waited through 7 rings oh so patiently suddenly decides their time is worth something and hangs up without leaving a message.

followed closely by...

running around the house trying to find the phone and when i pick it up, it's a recording asking ME to hold because THEY have an 'important message' for me. Somene please explain to me how important the freaking message can be if they're calling and then putting me on hold?????

My pet peeve is the same as yours. We've had several threads about it in the last year or so- I think Nicole started the most recent before this one (that I remember anyway.) I still have never seen a good reason for why someone will treat you this way. I don't understand it either. It hurts when it happens.

At the very least it is insulting. If you barely know someone then the hurt probably isn't there as much, but it is like they didn't have enough consideration for your feelings to even say goodbye - like you are nonexistant.

And it is not just online - people will do this crap if they can get away with it by being otherwise anonymous. The internet just makes it easier yet.

I guess it is a good thing in a way - I would rather find out now than later that they are a flake and/or so insecure that they can't even send you a Dear John email.

I know just what you're talking about STG. I've met alot of women online from my Black Planet webpage. I've even spoken to a few of them on the phone. But they just disappear out of the blue. Some even come online and I see them "block" themselves off in seconds. Fortunately, I have met one woman in person from that website and we "hit it off" pretty good. In fact, she became the one to break my interracial cherry...........LOL
