Sharpe OOC Casting Call

Katamari - that's the best thing of yours I've read on here. It was outstanding and very in the spirit of the best traditions of Spanish military history.

I'll endeavour to make the charging of the barricade a similar feat. But you've raised the bar, my friend.

Ah! That is VERY flattering! And Alfonso isn't even my favourite character...! My, my... I do wish you step up to the challenge, and write something equally inspiring!

My favourite character was Sabre. A female arab assassin in Gagonthis' "Avast ye!" pirate thread. I have very good memories of that one...

Well, I didn't say I've read EVERYTHING you've posted on here. I'm a cowriter, after all, not a stalker. ;)

Just to inform you two love-birds that Justine just made her exit... :p

*And implicitly challenged the good Alfonso for a re-match*

All very gripping stuff...well done all :D
Off to work now...in a brisk -31C wind ;) ...but will post when I return

It seems Justine overlooked the cannons...

*Merde Alors!"

Could someone give me a hint what she should do to escape this pickle?

Grab a horse and run.

If she stays in square, then Alfonso's cannon will destroy her. If she shakes out into line, then his cavalry will roll her up. If she tries to charge the guns, then a combination of Alfonso's cavalry and artillery and Sharpe's infantry will destroy her.

And this is why it's good to have friends. ;)

Won't that be quite cumbersome? :p

She will sacrifice a platoon of voltigeurs and try to retreat best as she can whilst keeping formation...Hard work but it could be done...or at least give her a chance to get out...

Well, it's almost impossible to miss a square of infantry with a cannon. Packed in densely like that, her men are going to take vicious losses from the cannister.

I'd say she's got to skeddadle. The South Essex will reform once the redoubt is taken. If Cavalry plus Artillery is a killer, when you add Infantry into the mix, it gets twice as bad. I think Justine would be far better served by taking to horseback and leaving the Grenadiers to survive as best they can!

Mind you, if she moves quickly enough, and her men have the belly to stay in square, she could still escape.

She just did...and a daring show of bravery she put on as well...I quite like her although she's mad as a snake.

Hahahah! You didn't take my ingenuity into account, did you?

*Passes fingers down a fake moustache.*

My dear Katamari

I am in complete and utter awe of your deviousness. Remind me never to cross you outside a s/rp

And now *I* feel sympathy for the poor abandoned Grenadiers!

What if *you* felt a bit symphaty for poor Ms Savage withering in the gloom of Mister Sharpe's tent

Poor Kate...Susannah seems to have found a use for herself and is neglecting her mistress...
Sorry...but I kinda felt the need to join in with all this great battle writing going on ;)
Hope Miss Savage will be alright alone for a little longer...

Brit

No blame attaches to you...I think Ms Smythe is doing a fantastic job tending the wounded (as impressive writing as usual) It's Steiner's fault if Ms Savage is pining away all alone.

And really -31? We had about -0-5 and slippery as what not..Fell on my arse when going to work...

Milady,
I thank you, it's rather fun writing her...she's rapidly becoming a favourite among my characters ;)
And yes, it was rather chilly this morning, although it went up to -18 this afternoon :D practically tropical ;)
Didn't slip today but I have done so many times it's a wonder I have any functioning limbs remaining

I like Holland. It's about 8 degrees here. :)

Wet though. And I need to go out now. :(

Dear Mrs Britwitch

You will have to ask your gentleman to get a kicksled to drive you around. :)

Steiner

Daddy Hill indeed...I am impressed *although I would have liked to see the sour but ultimately loveable Welshman Picton*

By the way, I've just watched Sharpe's Rifles (non subtitled, which made it a bit hard to follow, because you English-speakers have a pretty bad pronounciation...). I absolutely loved it, and yes, Teresa certainly did kick ass.

Also, electric guitar mixed with Spanish guitar? Priceless! :D

Steiner...Wasn't it Robert Crauford that was called Black Bob?

But nonetheless, Picton would have called Sharpe a blaggard, a thief and a whore's melt. And probably hit him with his umbrella for not being Welsh. :D

Katamari

And Sean Bean...*me likes very very much*
