A friend of mine always refers to rewriting as "re-write hell" and for good reason. It's the dark side of the writing moon. Creating is fun. Refining is work.

One thing you might try is granting yourself a certain amount of time off, a guilt-free vacation from writing. Set a period of time during which you will not look at a computer, think about your story or any other form of writng. BUT schedule a time and date when you'll get back to the grind.

No promises, but it works for some folks.

Am I the only person here who thinks the other way around...?

Creating plot, characters and other stuff is fun.

Writing plot-drafts and scene breakdowns and all other stuff is fun.

Starting a new scene and writing all that dialogue, all that setting, all that plot movement, when I already know what's going to happen in my head, is all just sooo frustrating...

But refining? Surely that's the best bit?
It's like making the final shape after you've plastered the whole panel in filler. You've already done the boring stuff - throwing material at the page until it sticks like some big ugly wedge - now all you've got to do is get down and glide over it lovingly with the sanding block until it's as smooth and perfect as an 18yo buttock...

Hell, get on, goof off and have some fun for a moment or two. Nobody said you have to work ALL day...

you know what? I actually did have Japanese script enabled yesterday because I wanted to see what my name looked like in Kanji.
why? you might ask since I don't speak or understand Japanese at all. Bored, that's why!

p.s. I got the whole dick situation straightened out I think.
