Serious question about electricity

My idiot neighbor was out flying a kite yesterday. This morning said kite is in a tree in my backyard with the line all the way across my yard, over my house and then wrapped around the electrical wires of the telephone pole in the front of my home. The line is not on the ground, it's suspended about 20 feet in the air. It's not resting on my house, but goes about 5 feet above my roof. The idiot part comes about because there is an empty 20 acre field 250 feet north of my house.

Anyway, I want to get this fucking thing down, but I'm scared to touch it. It is wrapped around the wires and I'm not sure if it's possible to get electrocuted by trying to grab it to pull it down. Also it is pissing down with rain right now so there is no way in hell I'm going to be touching anything remote connected to an electrical source.

Any experts out there that could tell me if I'm being irrational or should I call the power company?

It really depends on what lines it is involved with. But!!!! if you don't know the difference, I echo Ishmael's advice, "Call the power company." Electricity has a way of removing your second chances in a hurry.

NO! NO! NO! Theoretically you could touch ONE of the wires if you did not touch anthing else. If you touched a pole, the ground or another of the wires YOU'RE TOAST

Well I called the power company an hour ago. They said in no uncertain terms should NOT I touch it. Their guy just left. He cut it down off the pole. He said, "It's wrapped around the '7200' line and it's best to leave that to us". No argument here! Problem solved.
