Secret Santa Interest Thread.

Yes, Yes I know it's only just Halloween but it's time we started to get this years Secet Santa under way, or at least find out who's showing interest.

Sophia Jane has passed the mantle of organizer on to me this year and I'm sure we all want to thank SJ for all the had work she's put into the previous two years of secret Santa'ing.


So what do I want in this thread?

One, I want to find out who's interested in joining in the Secret Santa fun this year. Now please note, I'm going to put my bossy hat on and I'm going to insist that you seriously think about wether you have time to buy/make/assemble your gift before the first week or so of December when things will need to be posted by. I really, really don't want anyone to not have recieived a gift by the decided opening day.


Second, I want to sort out some details. When do we think cut of time for sending parcels should be and when should we have present opening day? And also, what kind of questions do folks need to answer to help out the gift buyer? I know SJ set some useful questions last year like allergies, favourite colours and such -what do you think we need to include?

And anythin else people express in this'ere thread


So, who's up for Secret Santa AH style?

For those who don't have a clue what I'm on about the secret Santa wil involve you sending your name and address to me plus the answers to whichever relevent questions we decide need to be asked. Then I'll assign a number to each participant and I'll get you lot to pick a number. What number you pick determines which secret Santa you'll get. Then you'll have to buy/make a gift for said person, (we tend to set a dollar level for how much to spend up to) and mail it by early december then wait for your own parcel and the opening day -early Christmas for all who join in -to open up your gift.

Have I explained everything and if so, who's game?

Some food items are a bit iffy, aren't they... chocolate and sweeties should be fine though.

We added a few last year, including the sexual innuendo suggestion. Some people can't get a sexual gift because of spouse, etc.
I also asked last year right up front if people could send overseas. There are definitely some who play who can't afford the postage and I paired those people up special.
You'll also want to ask (at some point) for special mailing instructions in case of a work address etc.
I'd also include a place for any other favorites, for people to offer their own suggestions, etc.

As for a deadline for mailing, it really ought to be somewhere toward the beginning of December to allow time for overseas shipping (and allow for the slow shippers to still make it in time).

I'm happy to pass on any help that I can. Thanks to EL for picking up the reigns.

Right, I'm going to update the first post with the names of those who want to join in, once we've decided on the questions I'll start a new thread asking people who want to join in to PM me with those details.

I'll add level of sexual innuendo allowed in gifts as well as able to ship overseas and special mailing instructions.

Plus the ubiquitous Other, so people can add any old misc info they think is needed.

Anyone who has any questions is perfectly welcome to PM me with them.
