Search function Help

What I learned from experience:
The search function doesn't allow you to search for anything with 3 letters or less (so it's difficult to find the 'YAY' threads, the title is too short)

Other than that, I usually can find threads if I know the title.

I have a problem using it to gather information. Like when I started the punishment thread, I wanted to search if this question was done before. Yes, I know there's the library, and I was too dense to check under discipline. But still there are more threads on punishment, and posts on punishment are 'hidden' in other threads. Searching for punishment gave an insane amount of threads.
So do you have any hints how to do a search where the results are usable? Can you search for more words? Do these have to be in the right order?

Great idea for a thread, RJ. :rose:
There are two yay threads and they're both Yay! with an exclamation, if that helps. That's 4 characters. Also one was by me and one was by gracie, so clicking on our names and what threads we started will help you find them.

I also use other peoples names to search if I know they started a thread or had a really good recent comment on it.

Odd or uncommon words or strange names that appear in the thread if you can think of them can often be used to help.

Common words are useless. The word "rape" appears in almost every story thread I've ever written. I have NO idea why that would be, LOL!

Most of my character names are uncommon though. Some words I tend to use are unusual too. I should start putting some of these into all the threads I like just so I can find them. *chuckles*

I decided I want to be kind and link a specific thread to the recent thread about how we found our partners.
I remember that it's a poll, and that the title was something like 'How did you find your partner'. Doing everything RJ taught us to do it gave me two results, both of which not the one I'm looking for. That's what I got
Any further advice? Does anyone remember who started the thread?

Chris,

I hunted and even did a google...these were the only ones I could find, though I am not sure any of them are the one you are looking for, but perhaps these might serve in a similar capacity for your intended use.

Best I could come up with and hope it helps.

Not the one I was looking for, but thanks anyways.
I'm still hoping that someone remembers this thread, and/or who started it. It's not that it's incredibly important for my future life and happiness, but it bothers me to not find it.
Thanks for the help :rose:
Do you often use google to find threads? It's a new idea to me, and if it works I'll be happy to try it next time.

I turn to google when the search here is being stubborn.

As long as I have the right phrase or key word, usually it will find it. Use the advance search on google...and in the domain filter put www.literotica.com, google will then only search its index taken from this domain. :)

Thank you!
How did you find it?

By accident really. I was just browsing through the titles of the Talk section to see if there were any thread titles that caught my interest and maybe worth a bump, when I saw the title and saw it was a Poll. I remembered your comment about it being a poll and clicked on it and guessed this was the one.

I have since tried to use different combination of searches to try to get this to show up, and I have yet been able to figure out how to get it to appear in a search result.

I have no explanation as to why it will not show up in a search result, a wild guess would be how the word partner in the title has a slant with an "s" added....i.e. partner/s

I think that the search index routine is not able to recognise it because of the special character, so this thread is not properly indexed. Of course this is only a guess, however this does show how often you can key on a specific keyword...like "partner" and still not be able to find the thread...I mean who would seriously think of searching for "partner/s". Might be something to think about when making titles to your threads in the future and avoid using special characters in them. Another rule in making a title of a thread, is try to use a word at least 5 characters in length that might be considered unique.

Anyways, I am sorry I cannot provide any search insight in finding this particular thread, but I am glad I found it and was able to post it for you.
