Supreme Court rejects challenge to abortion pill mifepristone

CNN
—
The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a lawsuit challenging the Food and Drug Administration’s approach to regulating the abortion pill mifepristone with a ruling that will continue to allow the pills to be mailed to patients without an in-person doctor’s visit.

The ruling is a significant setback for the anti-abortion movement in what was the first major Supreme Court case on reproductive rights since the court’s conservative majority overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.

Record Share of U.S. Electorate Is Pro-Choice and Voting on It

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A record-high 32% of U.S. voters say they would only vote for a candidate for major office who shares their views on abortion. The importance of a candidate’s abortion stance to one’s vote is markedly higher among pro-choice voters than it was during the 2020 presidential election cycle, while pro-life voters’ intensity about voting on the abortion issue has waned.

The issue they voted on was whether the petitioners had standing to bring the case. That's what they rejected this on. The issue itself is in no way settled at the SC level. Doesn't merit a party with balloons and champagne.

Will there be another challenge on the issue before SCOTUS prior to the election?

They never do stop trying.

Depends on whether there are petitions with good standing in the pipeline already. I don't know the answer to that.

I'm glad they ruled as they did. This should make it more difficult for the efforts against reproductive medical care

So these folks didn't have standing, but the folks in Texas do. (SCOTUS let the Texas sue happy abortion law stand.)

How the fuck does that work.
