A few years back I remember beginning to read a sci-fi story that interested me, but I got busy and forgot about it for a few weeks. Of course, I didn't bookmark or write.down the title, so I've tried searching every keyword I can think of to try and locate it again. No luck.
Can anyone out there help?
The plot is that an innocent girl is trapped in a bad situation and has to get off her planet. She somehow manages to get aboard a deep space ship masquerading as a sexual "companion" android, provided as a recreation device for the ship's pilot. He begins to develop feelings for what he thinks is just a machine, he gets protective of her when another pilot wants to temporarily swap, etc.
That's all I remember.
If anyone knows the story and can point me to it, eternal gratitude shall be yours.
