The use of human soldiers stopped with the rise combat droids. To make them effective the memory engrams of veterans were imprinted onto them. However, it’s been years since a human was a combatant so there are very few veterans remaining. Now one droid outperformed the others and went rogue. The military and the droid seek the veteran they used to imprint to understand what went wrong.

This veteran may or man not be alive, but not necessary for the story. Although it may be interesting to compare the veteran in his prime to the old veteran who has lived the rest of his life and is near the end of it.

Any ideas?

This veteran may or man not be alive, male or female, or even human. Although it may be interesting to compare the veteran/droid in his prime to the old veteran who has lived the rest of his life and is near the end of it. It’s about the journey of of the droid becoming more that a machine or human/alien. Make something new from it. Oh and try to throw in a lot of sex if you can

Any ideas?

I like the story idea; it has a lot of depth and potential. It vaguely reminds me of Keith Laumer's "Bolo" series about sentient tanks.

But it won't get a lot of traction unless you insert some sex into it, which I don't really see any opportunity for.

What do drone-bound engrams do between engagements? one Possibility is they cyberfuck like mad.

Anther is that the drones’ libido is linked to their combat effectiveness. Edged before a battle, knowing from long training/conditioning that they won’t orgasm until they kill a viable target. A truly hellacious motivation, falling deep the noncon/fetish realm.

If you want to pretty it up, you could coat it in a vr ‘game’ like in Ender’sGame, among others
