Which is about how the scammers go about it.
Mmhm i understand But aside from that how else could i approach it? I always think differently each time so that no scammer can take advantage. Right now, I explain the process to people, and there is no money involved at this stage a scammer wouldn’t even understand this because they don’t know the work so how could they explain it? I make a comic script of their story to show them how I would do it, and only if they’re interested does the work start with their permission nothing is done without consent
Okay thanks for guiding mePost your work. Get people to know you. If someone is interested, they'll contact you.
Don't approach it like you're networking at an event; AH is more like a rowdy bar with lots of drunken brawls rather than a convention. If you really want commissions because you're pressed for cash, go to the online markets like Fiverr or Ko-Fi instead.
I decided to choose peace today and deleted some mean things I said to you, I'll only add that calling someone a bitch when they correct your assumption about them probably deserves some further self-reflectionNow can we please move on? Or is this the part of the forums where everyone is a punching bag?
You insulted her on the basis of an incorrect assumption about where she is. Then refused to apologise, on the assumption that it wouldn't be accepted. And made another incorrect assumption about where she is.Either way, I'm done talking about it and her. She decided to be a bitch
Not very well.so I'm pretending she doesn't exist.
Bud, Sorry not sorry is not truly an apology. It needs to be heartfelt. Yours sounded so fake. You know what's funny? I apologized, and people are still attacking me. Which only reinforces my belief that apologizing doesn't do shit.
Pick a book you like, something that already has lots of fan art. Pick your favorite scene and make a one page comic out of part of it.Mmhm i understand But aside from that how else could i approach it?
Okay bossPick a book you like, something that already has lots of fan art. Pick your favorite scene and make a one page comic out of part of it.
Create an account on an art website that allows you to market yourself and allows for fan art, post it there and mention that you take commissions.
Create a thread in the visual artists corner, and if they're clean enough upload them there, if not upload them to a photo site that allows for nudity and post the link. Don't mention taking commissions though, that might get your thread marked as spam. And trust me, if your art is good, there will be people asking after commissions. Might not be many though, but they do exist.
So maybe it's not a scam but for some reason they play dumb about all the push-back. It smells manipulative and definitely indicates some kind of motivation other than just drumming up legitimate business.FWIW, I spoke to a version of the OP. They were perfectly polite and I wasn’t in need of their services. They never asked me to take the discussion elsewhere or for any PII.
IDK. They did provide me with price ranges. It was a normal convo, but I dont have a budget for their services. I only write for free work and my only expense is my own time (and that of my lovely beta readers of course). I’m merely relating my experience. So maybe it's not a scam but for some reason they play dumb about all the push-back. Of course. I wasn't challenging anything you've related. There are other experiences and I'm talking about those.I’m merely relating my experience.
There are moderators for the forums, but I wouldn't describe their actual responsibilities as monitoring. I certainly don't expect them to perform monitoring flawlessly - there is just too much message volume. Mostly we can expect them to react to reported messages which regular users flag with the "report" button.I've been here since July and now that I've gotten my re-edited stories out, I've had scam messages recently, too. I didn't think it possible for a site as seemingly heavily monitored as this one...
