Trail running is awesome. Did a 50 Miller and had a shot of Jack at mile 31Well I can’t say it was pretty but
I finished
I wasn’t last
I didn’t fall which was my biggest fear
Also found out trail runners as a whole seem like a cool bunch. I think I found my people!
Never say never!Omg I could never haha
I would totally be afraid that I was going to trip and fallOmg I could never haha
If I make it through a run without falling, it's a win....mostly I fall at least three or four timesI would totally be afraid that I was going to trip and fall![]()
The falling isn't important, it's the getting up afterwards that countsI would totally be afraid that I was going to trip and fall![]()
Falling on dirt or mud is much softer than asphaltAt my race the organizers seemed super proud of the fact that nobody fell and it made me question the sanity of the sport if it's that common of an occurrence![]()
Never question sanity.....we run to forget about that sorta thingAt my race the organizers seemed super proud of the fact that nobody fell and it made me question the sanity of the sport if it's that common of an occurrence![]()
And more fun! This is why 50k is the best distance on trails.....far enough to prove your stupidity and long enough to make you forget why you signed up.Falling on dirt or mud is much softer than asphalt![]()
Agreed. As we get older it's harder to recover. Harder but not impossible. I did a 12 mile run today in preparation for my first half marathon in four weeks time.
I have a few aches and pains but I will survive.
Injuries are the enemy of all of us
Stick with them...try to run with everyone you can (not time, just chat)Avid runner here, recently joined a running club which was a big ‘putting myself out there’ moment. I’ve only been on one group run so far but it was kinda cool
Enjoy, it's good fun but don't be afraid to run at your own pace. Slowing down avoids injuryAvid runner here, recently joined a running club which was a big ‘putting myself out there’ moment. I’ve only been on one group run so far but it was kinda cool
I failed on my trainingI'm a big believer in listening to your body but i know it is hard! Hope you can rest and recover!
sorry to hear that you are going thru that. I think the "Knowing when to stop" is part of maturing. Understanding that things have consequences in the long term. Even though, i am on that internal battle constantly.Sad to finally come to terms with this. I'm not upset..just disappointed in myself. I've helped others through this from the outside...just need to reflect on what I told them because I know I understand where I am.
I have decided to not run my race next week due to injury. I had poor training due to work and me and anxiety of unrelated things. I believe I have a meniscus tear which led to knee pain. And both of the above, I believe has led to a stress fracture on my left foot. I have a bruise and extreme pain when I press on it.
Hitting 50 has revealed my lack of focus and real work to put into running....for many reasons. I lack motivation and dedication and I need time to figure out how to get this all back.
I found this to be natural early on and instead of working on the important stuff, I took it for granted.
For my multi day races I actually do audio books but I realize that's not necessarily what this is about..... I like stuff that gets my mind off the run: rethinking with Adam grant, startalk, lots of stuff via the ringer, economics of everyday things are cool short ones if you build out a playlist with themI wanna poll the audience here...
For those of you that listen to podcasts and / or audio books while training... Any recommendations?
I listen to political stuff. Then I throw on my lifetime Spotify playlist.I wanna poll the audience here...

I actually wish i would have with the tariffs incomingIs anyone else stockpiling running shoes or is it just me?
I typically have an extra pair in a box in my closet but with the uncertainty of US-China trade relations right now, I didn't want to take chances on not being able to find my favorite brand & style.
You can do it. Baby steps!I used to run competitively, now I’m just a fat girl. Need to get back into it!
