Romney To Release 2011 Tax Returns, Paid Almost $2 Million In Taxes – Update: Donated Over $4 Million To Charity…

It will be interesting to see how much he donated to charity (he’s always been very generous), which lowers the amount paid and the effective tax rate.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Mitt Romney is releasing his 2011 tax returns.

Romney aides on Friday said the Republican presidential nominee would give the public a look at his finished tax forms. Ahead of their release, expected at 3 p.m., aides said Romney earned almost $13.7 million last year and paid more than $1.9 million in taxes — an effective tax rate of 14.1 percent.

Romney’s campaign earlier estimated that Romney would pay about $3.2 million in taxes.

Romney paid about $3 million in federal income taxes in 2010 — or 13.9 percent.

Update: To compare, Biden gave an average of $369 to charity over a 10 year period.

From the 2011 return:

–In 2011, the Romneys paid $1,935,708 in taxes on $13,696,951 in mostly investment income.
–The Romneys’ effective tax rate for 2011 was 14.1%.
–The Romneys donated $4,020,772 to charity in 2011, amounting to nearly 30% of their income.
–The Romneys claimed a deduction for $2.25 million of those charitable contributions.
–The Romneys’ generous charitable donations in 2011 would have significantly reduced their tax obligation for the year. The Romneys thus limited their deduction of charitable contributions to conform to the Governor’s statement in August, based upon the January estimate of income, that he paid at least 13% in income taxes in each of the last 10 years.

eh... i hate it

Wow, Romney donated 30% of his income to charity.

Contrast that with bill and hill donating his worn out underwear

If you think the last sentance was a joke, you can look it up

All over TWITTER, the LEFT is up in arms cause they PAID TOO MUCH IN TAXES

Saying that they didnt take all teh deductions they could have FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES:D

So we have gone from

THEY PAID NO TAXES

to

THEY PAID TOO MUCH IN TAXES:D

they gave more in chairty in ONE day

then Obama and Biden have given IN TOTAL IN PAST 10 YEARS

Romney has plenty of money

He should DONATE 4 free tickets to Obama and the 3 PROZZIES to get the FUCK OUTA THE COUNTRY:D

first reactions on MSNBC, which can be summed up as: Too little, too late, Mr. Moneybags.

investment income ben taxed twice.

What income isn't?

Hey I have an idea, let's drop capital gains income down to a 5% rate so the investment class can reliably pay no taxes!

Still don't know why he waited so long? I think that's the type of president he'll be...keeping things from the public just because. I'm not getting a good feeling about him and you know that most of that Charity donation was to the LDS church. I don't think that really counts.

Did 2011 include the years he was working at Bain? Then we're still waiting.

It's not really a Charity. Doesn't help people. Goes to buy magic underwear and nice little ties and black pants and bikes for the (male-because females are second rate citizens in the LDS) missionaries.

We are still waiting for hope and change
We are still waiting for the summer of recovery.
We are still waiting for unemployment below 8 percent.
