Do you think people should get respect or should they earn it?

Who automatically gets respect, if anyone?
Maybe the President of the U.S.?

I don't just give respect out....it has to be earned. I think all should earn respect. Even the President.

I dont' know about "earning" respect as though it is a reward.

However, if you want my respect, you will demonstrate respectability and show me that you are someone I can respect.

Then, on the flip side of the coin, I will show everyone respect until they screw with me.

Well respect is dependent on how you interpret it, like seniority at your work. You may have other conclusions.

I think there is a level of respect due anyone just because they are another human being. Beyond that they have to earn it.
