I grew up in a household that revered the Philippines for their alliance with us in WW2, Korea and even Vietnam. Great people. When a filipino family moved to our town, there were some grumblers (it was the 80s). My dad yelled at guys saying how dare they disparage filipinos after all they did for the US. I have a very good friend born here to filipino folks. Great people.
