Repairing mine and Siren's computer.

Dr. Strangelove. Who's in yours?

Who?? I can't get the movie I am remembering that face from! Damn it!

And...that would be me!

Maybe I accidentally insulted Ozzy. If so, my appologies to Ozzy.

Whew, that was close. Thanks Texan. I'd hate for me and Azzie to have to come down there and lecture you on the finer points of Ozzy over a case of longnecks.

Oh..well then, in that case you're pretty cute.

(the name of the movie and character are Dr. Strangelove, the actor is Peter Sellers)

Texan, when it comes to personal stories of STD symptoms, you'll beat me every time, as my experience in that august field is nil.

As someone else pointed out, your adult son was within earshot when you went looking for a shot of poon before heading to church on Suinday...and the surprise and potential discovery of your secret life pissed you off.

How that gets to be my fault is, I gather, because I found the scene you described as funny. Which it was.

You have absolutely no place being pissed at me, Mr. Pustule Afficionado. Take a look in the mirror and play Spot The Looney on your own dime.

You've misplaced the blame in lieu of taking responsibility for your own actions.

Deal with it.

Cheers;

Lance

Lance is like Herpes. He pops up when and where he's least welcome. You want to ignore him, but he's a nagging pain. And, he never seems to go away.

Lance, I've been trying to ignore you, but you have the social skills of Ozzy Osborne, the intellect of Jethro Bodine and the persistency of a melanoma.

Don't become another Hanns or Indigo Rose.

Texan said:
These comments about the "prince of darkness?" Since I doubt the refers to Jethro, I'm assuming that's a name for Ozzy. I confess to ignorance of Ozzy other than the tidbits I've seen of the program that shows his home life. I do have to admit, that maybe Azwed's right. Maybe I accidentally insulted Ozzy. If so, my appologies to Ozzy.

The Prince of Darkness is sort of Ozzy's nickname. All the drug damage and Ozzy's Manchester accent make him sound a lot less coherent then he really is.

You gotta give him some respect though. How many rock stars/celeberties have made a marriage work for nearly 20 some years?

Normal people have problems doing that.

There was one movie I can remember that face from, but I just can't place it! I hate brain farts!!

I am not going to pass up the longnecks if you are still offering them though. :D

Sorry for the mess you two are in with your puter. I hope that you are able to restore everything back to normal over the weekend. It's just too bad that you have to waste your weekend doing that, rather than going out and enjoying yourselves, or relaxing without having to deal with damage control.

I totally agree with everything that Siren said yesterday ... she had the right to be mad ... we all did! Even those who didn't click on the link, suffer the loss of trust in fellow posters. It was a foolish, malicious prank by a confrontational twit who has no concept of community, no respect for other posters, and not enough good sense to realize when to regret her actions. She alone is responsible for the damage done and the hard feelings coming her way.

Meanwhile, give my best to Siren ... and, nice to meet you Wolfy.

Sorry Wolfy - it was a fucked up thing she did... I think most of us here agree on that.

Good luck getting things fixed.

There was a good deal of piling on last night. It was ugly and unpleasant to see. Many who had no need to be involved put themselves in to it.

A man is often known by the quality of his friends. You should take a look at the threads you've been involved in lately. Take a look at just who is taking up your causes. You can make your own evaluation (everyone else is) about your skills at reason and judgement.

Your AV suits you.

To a point. But when the link is from someone you see around here, you do develop a certain amount of trust. Granted I haven't been here that long, but I haven't seen that done here yet. Most of us know of each other here, and that trust was violated. Guess it was blind trust. Now we all know better.

You're right Pamela; I think we all agree it was an unexpected and unfriendly prank.

I think the fact that it was a new kind of prank for the GB has pissed people off as much as anything else.

And I think that the amount of energy and bad feelings generated by people who had nothing to do with the prank or clicking on it illustrates who the chronically unhappy people here are and how they love feeding into anger instead of having a laugh, shrugging it off (yet marking it down for future reference) and moving on.

I have finished reading the shit storm as well Wolfy. Pretty much sucks.

I hope that siren files charges. Not so much that I'd like to see that little cunt IR sweat, but so that Laurel and Manu get to spend a little time with the FBI.

I fully support their dedication to freedom of speech. However in this instance they have blown off the seriousness of malicious behavior. Purposeful malicious behavior. It is obvious that the little cunt knew that the link contained a virus. That makes her culpable. Not the victim of a "pass it along" virus unleashed by someone else. That she has not been banned from this board indicates that Laurel and Manu condone this behavior.

I am also distressed by the attitudes of some on the board that think this is funny. It may not occur to them that there are those of us that actually use our computers for business as well as playing here at Lit. It is a reflection on their maturity the manner in which they took delight in siren's dilema. And absolutely no regard for the time that has to be taken to correct these problems.

All in all a very shabby performance by many members of this board. I know that I will remember their names, and respond to them with the same respect that you and your wife have been shown.

We haven't seen sunshine here in Houston for 9 days. Tomorrow the sky is supposed to clear. I'll insult Ozzy again if the sun will shine and y'all will come down and have a few longnecks.

I wasn't aware the GB was a team sport, Texan.

But I now know you see it that way.

Thanks for the comment on my AV; I rather like it and believe that yes indeed, it does suit me.

As does yours you, I do believe.

:)

I like the way you said that, Ishmael. Though not intended as advice, I hope you don't mind if I take it that way, and follow it.

Ishmael;

Until such time as Manu (for example) tells us the link was infected and that IR knew it was infected, your words are as irresponsible and half-baked as Siren's rants were.

Hmmmmmmmm, another one of the reading impaired I see. IR admits to the virus later in the thread. And in the thread started in response to the damage that was done.

No wonder you were a corporate hack. Need to pay attention to the details. ;)

I don't recall having read that...if there was an unequivocal admission, you're right, I missed it.

Indigo Rose's actions were deplorable. They were rude, insensitive, ludicrous, childish, despicable, indicative that she is a cunt,

That's very unfair to all the real cunts out there.

Laurel and Manu have done nothing wrong. Nothing whatsoever. Our freedom of speech as well as our right to privacy is supreme at this website.

If Laurel and Manu handed over such information to the FBI, they would be breaching an implicit agreement they have between themselves and the posters here. Laurel and Manu would be like the bookstore, or whatever, asked to turn over names of the people on this - their IP addresses, their e-mail etc.

Many of us at this board put faith and truth and rely on Laurel and Manu as ethical administrators of an internet bulletin board. I doubt any of us would like the information here to be made available to anyone else.

It's called privacy. Many of us treasure and value our privacy above anything else. I would not feel comfortable if I knew that Laurel or Manu did not value individual privacy as much as the members on this site. I would not be able to post here as I do.

Additionally, one of the arguments for the callous nature of Indigo's prank was because she infringed on the privacy of those who didn't necessarily want their computer yelling out that they were looking at porn. Ishmael, in your own post you say people use their computers for business as well as posting at lit. This demonstrates that privacy is an important issue for you.

To protect privacy, you must protect it on all fronts. Surely you can realize this.

Indigo Rose's actions were deplorable. They were rude, insensitive, ludicrous, childish, despicable, indicative that she is a cunt, [add any pejorative statement ad nauseum.] Yet, the actions were not criminal.

Stop bashing Laurel and Manu. You are being a thankless jerk. When you start paying for this site, then bitch.

Until then, I laud Laurel and Manu for their efforts to preserve almost complete freedom of speech as well as the ethical nature with which they regard the privacy rights of the posters on this site.

Don't get it do you? Nope, not at all. And you're trying to be an attorney?

This isn't about freedom of speech lavy. It's about purposeful malicious behavior.

Wake the fuck up.

Ishmael

And I was under the impression that litigation to solve minor disagreements costs the government a lot of money and manpower.
