Removing a Story.

So I've decided to change the format in which I publish my stories on the site (or at least the story I'm working on currently.) From a single article per chapter to a single 'book' per article. Now I've already published the first 3 chapters of my story in the first method.

I can't seem to find any way to remove them though, so that I can resbumit the single 'Book 1' of my story. Is there a way to do that? Should I clench my teeth and publish chapter 4 as stand a lone like the others?

(I hope this is the right forum to post this in btw, I figured here or authors, but here seemed better?)

This forum will work :D

Start a new submission, using the same title as the original ( or as much as will fit ) plus something similar to *DELETE*

Fill in the description, keywords, etc. with placeholders, they don't matter.

It's best to make a note of the Lit ID# for each chapter of your story. The Lit ID# is the number that appears at the end of the URL in your browser address bar when you view the first page of your story.

In the story text section, just put a note that you want to delete the chapters from the website. ( You can explain why, but it isn't necessary ) If you put the Lit ID#s in there, it will ensure that there are no problems with mistaken identity.

I usually copy the same text into the "notes" section as well. When there's something in the notes section, it automatically cues the moderators.

Preview, and submit.

Under normal circumstances, it will take the same amount of time for the delete to go through as for a normal submission ( which may be a little longer right now, due to the themed contest going on )

However, I have seen edits/deletes go through the queue much more quickly. Expect it to take 3-7 days, that way, you'll be pleasantly surprised if it goes through more quickly.

You can either wait a day and submit the new combined version, or wait until the original chapters are deleted first.

Thanks a bunch :) I'm still in the editing proccess for the updated version, so it will be a few days/weeks before I'm ready to delete, but wanted to know how to do it when I did.

Your answer was very helpful and I appreciate it.

No problem :D

If you ever need to edit something ( find an error in the text, etc ) then the process is much the same. Just use *EDIT* instead of delete in the new title.

If you're editing story text, paste the entire edited story/chapter in the story text box. Then, use the "notes" section to say that you're editing the text.

If you're editing keywords, then just fill in the new keywords and make a note in both the story text and notes sections.

Ditto for descriptions. Fill in the new description, and then put the note about what you're doing.

Ditto for a category request change, although this one is going to require a good argument as to why it should be moved -- especially if the moderators changed your original category choice before posting.

For a title change, add the new title to the notes.

With edits, you maintain your votes, views, comments, etc. by default. The moderators assume that you only want what you specify changed, and everything else remains the same.

Thanks again, I have done some editing but hadn't realized that it was the same method for deletion :)

Really appreciate the help!

I'm always glad that literotica has helpful people like you around :)

I'd wait until the chapters are deleted if you're using the same title. I just re-worked a story, submitted a request for deletion of the old version and posted the new version with a slightly revised title and the original and new version were both deleted. Not a big deal since, like I said, it was just a re-worked version of the original, but it was a pain in the butt to have to submit the re-worked version again.

But now I know if I ever do that again to wait until the old story is deleted before posting the new (or updated) version. :)

That's why I always suggest noting the Lit ID# in your instructions any time you edit/delete. Helps protect any innocent bystanders :D

I'll have to keep that in mind for future reference also, thanks. :)
