Remember when.....

Remember when the bus was less than a quarter? And it was something kind of wonderful that took you anywhere, but you were only supposed to ride it with your parents?

And Now it's $2.75 one way with a 60 minute transfer agreement slip, and it takes me 45 minutes to get to work and I can only arrive a half hour early or a half hour late.

Still though, I find it better than owning a car.

I remember being afraid of staying up past midnight because "Weird things happened then".

Now? I rarely make it to bed before 2 am.

Remember when you'd hear a beep and you knew that cool kid in class had let his tamagotchi pet die again?

*Giggles* Or when Pokemon was all anyone played with! Those damn collector cards...

Remember when furbies were all the rage?

Remember when you got your first mobile phone? (and then that bitch next door had to get one too)

Remember keeping up with the Jones'? :D

Remember when (and I'll take this opportunity to point out that I was a very young kid at this point) Atari brought out an electronic game, you plugged it into the tv and it had an arrary or games - all were black and white, I think.
Tennis - one bat either side of the net, which you moved up and down only to hit the slow moving dot, representing the ball, BAdminton, which was surprisingly similar to tennis, squash, both bats on the same side, hitting off a wall, oh, and you could play singles or doubles, I think there was football too, but you had only one bat (player) who could move, the rest were static.

I was the envy of all my friends, no one had seen one!!

I explained this recently to my kids, who fell around the place laughing, and told me I belonged in a museum, along with my game!!! ( next to the dinosaur exhibit!!!) I felt like grandpa simpson telling them "it'll happen to you too, in time, wait and see!!!!"

Yes I had one too *smiles*

How about remember when hand held games like frogger or space invaders actually came on devices that where bigger then a tissue box and ran on batteries.

Remember when video games required a controller with one button and a joystick, and wouldn't play on a tv bigger than 19 inches?

Remember when remote cotrols plugged into the appliance - like for the VHS Video, a lead with the remote on the end??

Oh, and even before that, when you had to get out of your chair to change the channel on the TV????

Remember when your house phone (singular) was located in the hall, with a little seat of some sort next to it, and you went and sat there while you had your conversation.

We now have 5 portable phones in our house, and every time the phone rings, everyone is tearing apart the couch, or bedding searching for one of the damn things!!

Remember when twenty quid would bring you out for the night? drinks, nite club, and chips and curry on the way home at 3 am, having been out since nine? You'd even have a little change in your pocket!

Remember when Americans had no clue what fish and chips actually was....oh wait, most still don't :D

1980's sitcoms ended when the bad guy's were stopped when their cars were disabled rather than being shot and killed like today? A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider, Magnum PI?

Remember when Sega consoles had these fat cartridges you'd push into the top and they stood upright?

Remember....SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!!!!!!!! Loved that little blue dude!!

Remember when Mecha anime were about the mecha, not who's in love with who?

Remember when cigarettes were less than $3 a pack?

And yes, I remember those. Car disabled or flipped. And infinite ammo...

I never really liked playing video games but I used to play Sonic with my ex b/f and I loved how Tails used to stand there, cross his arms and tap his foot when you didn't move anywhere for a while. He used to get so mad at me because I used to "not play" on purpose.

Sega? That was most modern! Atari all the way baby!

Pssst! PD! Your age is showing! :p

*Giggles!* HA! I remember that! My brother loved drawing Sonic, he rocked at it...if he wasn't crazy now, I reckon he'd be a cartoonist or making video game characters

Hey my first computer was a Adam Computer that had a tape track hard disk. It would take 10 minutes to load a single file. Good thing the modern age computer is so much more efficient... oh... wait... erase that... nothing has changed... LOL
