Remember when.....

remember whena mobile phone was the size of a house brick and was carried in its own bag.

Remember when the ignition key to ALL cars was an actual key, and not the key hidden in the clicker thing with central locking.?

Remember when TVs were black and white....and you thought you were cool with more than two channels?

Remember when New Kids on the Block were rad? Or when Vanilla Ice was the shit? Or when Marky Mark was in the funky bunch? Or when MC Hammer was to ligit to quit? Or when how cool and expensive CD's were when they first came out? Or when you would sit in front of the radio for hours to record the hottest new single on your tape deck? OMG I could do this forever....;)

I used to do that all the time!

Remember when there was no such thing as mobile phones? You could actually leave the house and not be contactable until you got home.

I miss those days....

Remember when you had to be home when the streetlights came on....when you could go anywhere you wanted to on your bike.....when a few bucks could buy you a ton of candy at the corner store....

Remember discovering that there were secret channel on vhs... up at 2am sneaking in music videos.... reception so bad you could barely tell what you were watching.

When cable came out, patiently watching scrambled channels, knowing that every few seconds part of an image could be seen. Disappointed when as an adult, the scrambling went away and those same images lost their magic in the light of reality.

I used to do that with MTV

Remember when international calls had to go through the operator, perhaps the operator for several countries, before you finally got through??

Computers were MASSIVE and if you wanted it to do anything (pre windows) you had to do things like CTRL and U, or CTRL C, (to centre) or CTRL L to left align again!!

Remember records??? I used to have great fun playing my brothers collection at 45 and it sounded like Micky mouse!! Recording tapes of songs for boyfriends, and gettting them in return??? We were recently clearing out our gargae, and my kids came across a tape, and had no idea what it was!!!

Or remember when a "good camera" was this massive SLR Nikon weighing about a stone hanging around your neck, and a camcorder was a big shoulder mounted yoke that was anything but portable!!!

Okay, I'm showing my age!! Ill shut up now!!!

*shifty eyes* I remember all of the above (though some of it, I wasn't around for)

OMG Sallly, same thing happened to me with my son and the cassette tapes! Too funny. I had to explain the concept of a 'mix tape'.

Remember when you bought music from a store? Remember when CD's where sold in those long rectangular boxes to prevent them from being stolen? Remember when you used those cardboard holders to decorate your HS locker?

Remember when your car had a fairly simple engine, and even if you couldnt fix it yourself, some one else could????? When your car didn't require its sealed engine to be connected to the "diagnostic computer", leaving you with a repair bill that would buy you another f***ing car???????

that one is close to my heart ATM, as my car is in getting a new turbo fitted, at the bargin price of only €3000.00

Remember cruising "the strip" in whatever car you could get your hands on.....sleep overs......when school dances were fun....

Remember when you could buy a video game with the change in your pocket, brand new?

We called it 'scooping the loop' or cruising the ave. Life was so simple then huh?:)

Now they have signs up in my hometown that if you go past a certain point too many times in an half hour or hour they can pull you over......how sad is that?

Remember when you could go to a real arcade at a mall or someplace and then play games for a quarter or two a pop.

Remember Mr Squiggle, Captain Planet and Gumby!

Remember when making a cubby house and finding enough kids for a game of Red Rover were the biggest challenges in life.

Remember when you had no idea what the hell a mortgage was and when finding a $20 note was a huge deal!

Remember when everyone had a Skip-It?

MINE WAS PURPLE, BITCHES.

And my friend Camille tried to come over one day and steal it, after my mom took us to Hello, Kitty in the mall. Can you freaking believe that? Such blatant jealousy and ingratitude. I dropped her. She was always copying me anyway, from my Beauty and the Beast lunch pail to my badass hair clips.
