I want to know how your views of God/religion curb your sex life. Do you not try some of the things you wuld like because of your views? If so what?

This is one of the times it really pays off not to be religious.

Being a Christian I used to feel guilt about my sexual urges, but then I slowly came to the conclusion that this was mostly due to prudes in the church rather than what my religion taught about sex. Now for the most part the things I won't do are those things that will cause harm to myself or others. I generally avoid casual sex because I think (and from experience know) that the consequences can quite often be harmful - not just to me and my partner(s), but to people not even involved in the act itself.

Beyond that, I believe God wants us to enjoy ourselves sexually, and that as long as we are consenting adults, if it feels good - do it.

I am a fundamentalist, the bible only gives me one restriction on sex, nonmonogamous aside from that if she's consenting its all go

One of my first spiritual teachers said to me "All acts of joy are worship unto the Goddess" So what is more joyful then the bringing together of two hearts and bodies in an act of love?

I'll try just about anything despite the religon I was raised in. I do think it keeps me from completly enjoying myself due to some sub-concious guilt.

Growing up I had the whole, "No sex before marriage" thing drilled into my head. I didn't stick to it and my family has never let me live it down. I won't be like that with my kids!

Any and all views of sexuality I have are purely based on my own reason, deduction, thought, and experience, and have nothing to do with my religion.

Because if the Pope saw me here, he'd slap the all holy shit out of me.

If the pope came here to Lit I think he would be doing a lot of slapping! Starting with me!

lol the pope has bigger problems then us. thanks everyone for your replys.
:p

After growing up in a very religious family and household, I have learned several things. My mother, bless her, taught me to believe my own way. She is the black sheep of our family and with good reason. I now carry on her tradition of being the topic of discussion at family reunions. :)

My sexuality is something I am proud of.

Organized religion is good for some, but not for me. God and I are on very good terms with one another...without the need for a steeple, a Sunday of rest or the gossip about who gave how much into the offering plate.

Besides that, I write erotica. Everyone in my town knows it. Tolerance? Not in MY friendly neighborhood church.

Therefore...religion and sex do not mix. :) And that is just fine with me.

SEX AND RELIGION

Jesus Was An Outlaw

Jesus was an outlaw if all the facts be known.
He broke the laws set by the state and roamed from town to town.

He hung with whores and beggars, and never held a steady job, drank wine and seemed a misfit, though he preached the word of God.

If Jesus walked the earth today, and tried to stroll through town, the cops would hall the man away and shake his brothers down.

They'd say he was a vagrant, and ridicule the way he lives, "an anti-social hippy freak - taxpayers burden is all he is".

If Jesus tried to walk away and turn the other cheek, they'd club him, mace him, cuff him up - he'd be in cort next week.

The judge would hear the D.A.'s case, and order Jesus into chains, "Cuz he's a threat to our society... his attitude must change. Thirty years in prison and a dozen on parole should eliminate his attitude and let the state have full control. There'll be no more prayers in public - and no more preachin' on the street. You can't hang with whores or beggars, or convicts you might meet. You'll get a job like all the rest - flippin' burgers on a grill. And remember YOUR ORDERS COME FROM ME NOT GOD - or you'll be back up on the hill.

I speak of the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yeilded you members servants to uncleanness and iniquity unto iniquity;B]even so now[/B ]yeild your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

II Corinthians 3:17
Where the spirit of the lord is, there is liberty.

Romans 12:1-2
I beseech ye therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, thar ye present your bodies a living sacrifice , holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.[And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I too am a Christian, but unlike many, I am also a religious scholar. The ORIGINAL form of Christianity was a sexually centered religion. When one prays for knowledge and understanding, THEN reads the bible, one will quickly realize that Christ's true message lies not in the text - but between the lines of the text. The text is merely a vessel which contains the wine of truth. One must remember that God's truth will never alter - but the texts have altered many times throughout history. Therefore, truth and text are not one and the same.

I will be more than happy to discuss the TRUTH as I have discerned it, and i will support that truth with both history and scripture.

Being Jewish tends to restrict my sexual contact with priests.

Mostly.

I find it interesting how often sex and religion are debated in this manner. If it was such a forbidden topic or action why would there be an entire book dedicated to the wonderous act in the Bible? The Song of Solomon1:13 "A bundle of myrrh is my well-beloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts.", Song of Solomon 7:9 " And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak."

And a couple of Proverbs like Proverbs 5:19 "Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love."

I don't know why people don't like the Bible so much...I find it fascinating...quite dirty when you get into it.

As for the fact that certain religions feel the need to influence your views on sex...I think it is bunk. It is you who allows anything to influence you...people, places, things. Don't blame the religion for your prudish feelings toward sex...learn to open up and tune in to your own feelings and intuition and inhibitions they are there let them out. God/the Divine, what ever you believe...gave you all the emotions/motions to take pleasure in the gifts/bodies you have been given...why not share in the the gifts?

SHHHH! Or *everyone* will want one!

Too late...I saw The Thorn Birds and developed this twisted fetish for sexy men in black robes...The Quill certainly did nothing to put a damper on that for me either.

The collar just doesn't do it for me on a guy though.

That's funny; I saw the same series and developed a fetish for dark haired women who looked and sounded like Rachel Ward. :D
