"Hey would you mind?" Danny raised an empty coffee mug and smiled.

The coffee pot was right near her.

"Pretty please?" Danny pleaded with a large coating of cheese.

 

[Asa]

Maylea laughed and shook her head reaching for the coffee cup.

Forgot how you New Jersey cops can be. Here...

Handing him back a full cup of coffee she watched him for a moment.

Alright spill it you have questions you are dying to ask... ask them.

Kona walked in with a few files and started working on the computer table noticing some files had been recently accessed but it was not by her she took a quick look since Danny had Maylea distracted. SHIT she thought to herself as soon as Wo Fats picture popped up on the screen. Keeping her intent work related poker face she went about her work but texted Chin that Maylea was looking into Wo Fat. The only answer she got back was... Don't say anything especially NOT to Steve he would talk to her and see what was going on.

"Well you know....Jersey's where all the cops go to learn how to be real cops."
He grinned.

He pointed to Wo Fat's photo on the screen.

"So who is this guy again? Some mob boss right?"

 

[Asa]

Kona glared at Danny as Maylea's expression snapped to a cold military demeanor.

I know that all of you know who Wo Fat is Danny so don't play dumb with me. And Kona before you or Chin start in on me... Yes My latest assignment has a connection to that now shut the file and keep your yaps shut 5 0 is NOT involved in the new assignment they gave me nor will any of you be if I can help it is that clear?

Her dark eyes met each of them one at a time with a cold almost ruthless stare as she waited for an answer.

Danny went to drink his coffee but stopped short of it when he saw her gaze.
"Ummmm....ok so you don't want our help at all? I mean what if International ordered the Govenor to enable us to assist? I'm just putting it out there."

 

[Asa]

Then International would end up with a few new corpses in their command structure. The case is mine I tell them if I require local assistance and due to certain history this unit has with the criminal element of these islands any one of you would blow my cover wide open.

She looked to Chin... and before you say one word Chin The best way to protect your bro... is to keep your damn mouth shut.

The look aimed at Kona got the file closed and off the screen and her taking a step back from the viewer. A door opening caught Maylea's attention as she glanced over.

Steve came through the door and looked around at the tense feeling in the air.
"What's going on? Danny did you piss her off? You jersey cops really do know how to get a woman going."

 

[Asa]

No one as pissed me off Steve I just already have a new assignment to start as soon as Kalani dies at sea. One that I have informed them 5 0 will not be helping me with at all. Thats all...

She walked back into her office and closed the door. Sitting there deep in thought for a long while barely sipping her coffee at all.

No help at all hey?
He looked to Chin and Kona "Well if that's what she wants, let us respect that. What's on our list of things to do on OUR watch. Let's worry about our cases adn she'll worry about hers. All part of working together guys,"

 

[Asa]

Chin didn't have to say anything to give Steve a look that told him something was up.

Kona nodded to Steve and began rattling off the cases redirected to them. Nothing major mainly a slight strong arm presence in certain areas and "fact finding" on some stolen items from a previous murder case they had handled a few weeks prior.

Steve nodded and heard the list. He saw the look Chin gave him and outside he nodded but inside he really wondered. What the hell....

 

[Asa]

Chin looked over. Hey Steve Why don't you and Ihit the local fences and see if anyone has tried to move the stolen items and Kona can help Danny with fact finding with the locals

Kona barely contained shaking her head no to her cousin... Not at getting assigned to Danny but knowing Chin would blab if he had a moment alone with Steve even though Maylea told them not to.

"Good idea Chin. Let's go. Let's hit the pawn shop near the shrimp truck first. I could go for some shrimp. "

 

[Asa]

Kona stared at her cousin and shook her head one more time before looking to Danny for some help. Knowing she could not add to any suspicion she grabbed her stuff walked past her cousin muttering to where only he could hear her... Don't do it. Then looking to Danny to see if he was ready to go. Glancing for a moment to Maylea shaking her head again a little and waited.

Chin nodded

Sounds good man lets go

Watching Kona as she walked past and shrugged then headed for the door.

Steve drove fast and teh wind was throwing Chin's and his hair all around.

"So Chin, what really on your mind. I saw your face dude, you got something on your mind. Spill it sir."

 

[Asa]

Chin took a deep breath now that he could tell him in peace he was not sure he should.

Maylea already has a new assignment as you know... Kona... He paused for a moment and finally started talking again.

Steve... Even though we are not to be involved... Danny Kona and I know what the assignment is... Kona stumbled across some research in our system Maylea was doing... Beyond that man all I can say is... Don't ask questions man... you don't want the answers.... Hell the rest of us don't want what we know.

Play dumb or Kona will kill me...

At that he laughed and enjoyed the ride to Kamekona's

I figured it was something like that.

He chuckled a long with Chin as they pulled up to Kamekona's.

"So don't ask and won't get the bad answers. Got it. But let me guess. Wo fat? And a bunch of his Yakuza operations and how international is looking into it all?"
He waited for chin's response as he sat there calmly before they got out.

 

[Asa]

Chin sighed.

Her target is strictly Wo Fat... and to be honest she TOLD the Governor to tell International that 5 0 would not be involved because of how she knew... we would react.

He looked over waiting for the flip out... No matter how tough as hell Maylea was... no matter how much Steve wanted to trust her and believe in her... Chin and the others knew there was a irrational rage and hatred in Steve towards Wo Fat and all Wo Fat has cost him.

Steve was holding it in and he starting letting a little show'Yea when I get my hands on Wo Fat, I will kill him. But it'll take time and patience. Right now...shrimp then the Pawn Shop."

 

[Asa]

Steve... you can't get involved...

Chin tried to remind him. Kona was right... she always was... but right or wrong Steve needed to know.

Yeah Shrimp then work.

Steve headed them to the shrimp truck. He thought about Wo Fat and this whole not getting involved stuff. Yea sure. Don't get involved...Sure.

Chin and Steve ate and enjoyed the shrimp and for a moment forgot about the stress of work.

 

[Asa]

Across town Kona was helping Danny talk to the locals. As they were walking along she hauled off and punched Danny in the shoulder.

Chin is going to tell him ya know...

She glared...

And then Super Jersey cop... whats is going to happen when Steve finds out?

She waited to let him piece it together.

Danny started piecing it together and the light went on and his eyes grew wide as saucers.

"Oh."

 

[Asa]

Yeah Genius...

Kona looked at him pausing for a moment...

SO do we tell her he knows or do we all fight daily with him not to get involved? Whats the plan now?

He thought about it for a momment.

"Might as well tell her because get it all out in the open."
