Alasdair stood up holding out his hand to him.

Only a thank you for facing me man to man and please do not let the courts or your government do anything to Kalani... she is innocent in all of this and I have told her if this day ever came to be strong in her take over and make all go legit or hand them over the the authorities of whatever country they work in. I trust that she will.

Steve reached out sensing genuine concern for her and took his hand. He shook it firmly and almost making a promise to deliver when he looked Alistair in the eyes while he shook it.

Alasdair walked to the door and summoned the guard himself.

Steve past the guard and moved into the prison main office and took a deep breath and looked around for the closest coffee.
He needed something stronger but that was going to have to do.
Her...pregnant? With his.....no.......she would have....told them.....does she know? IS it real? Can you fake pregnancy with drugs for doctors? His mind spun at the idea.

Maylea was sitting at the desk and reading over a few reports and making a couple of calls arranging the "death" of Kalani. She hung the phone up and walked out to the coffee pot with a sigh and grumble.

Steve just walked out to the parking lot to his car and got in and made the call.
Waiting for Maylea to pick up he wasn't sure why she would act pregnant...

Looking at her phone she sighed. Steve was clearly done talking to Alasdair and she suspected what he was calling about. Finally answering the phone she spoke.

Let me guess Steve... We need to talk? Meet me at the house we can talk there unless you don't mind the others being there... not like its an active case anymore guess all of you could know.

"Yea, I'll see you at the office and then we can all talk about it. It's not pertinent true but being as I have to account for some things I was just told, I figure the whole team should hear it at once. See you there."

He drove on and did know that it was an inactive case but she didn't tell them? Didn't SHARE? What the fuck!

She glanced around noticing Chin Danny and Kona looking over at her. Chin and Kona having that oh boy this could be bad look on their faces.

Steve will be here in a bit and we will be having a meeting concerning trivial details of a closed case. Yes you two its something he might end up flipping out about and yes it may cause a big enough problem that might mean when Kalani "dies" I leave too.

Danny you having been married before might be able to help him with what he is going to ask and hear... let him lose it let him rant thats just Steve then help him understand... thank you.

Steve got to the office and headed to the briefing room.

They all stood waiting for him.

As if they've been briefed about it all before he had. They all knew...something.

"So Malyea, care to add a couple more details to the debrief?

5 months ago in self preservation against a fairly large insane Russian bodyguard I had to allow something to happen... pregnancy. That got Alasdair to back him off luckily prove to him that I was no threat... and get me headed to a location where we could get confirmed backup for the take down.

Her dark eyes turned to daggers as she stared a hole right through Steve. As of 2 1/2 months ago that detail ceased being important due to a miscarriage luckily we were in a city with an International connected hospital that told him that what nearly killed me was my appendix not his kid miscarrying.

Kona walked over to her she had never experienced it but she had seen victims get told that news in the hospital and knew it was never dealt with easily. Chin just stood there not sure what to do looking from Kona and Maylea to Danny and Steve.

Steve heard it all and just sat down and absorbed it.

He didn't know what to say.

She had tried all this time to forget what had happened now here it was again and the pain of the loss fought her once more for release.

Kona tried to guide her to the break room but before they left the room Maylea looked back.

You have 24 hours to tell him before he will be seeing a news report that her private plane crashed into the ocean.

Steve nodded and headed out back to the jail to tell him.
The idea that she would commit herself that much to a mission was beyond impressive.
He drove up to the jail and headed back to the office and waited for the guards to arranage a cell for him and Alistaire to share.

Aladair was a little surprised but happy.

What news do you have on my precious Kalani? Is she alright?

Alasdair was even too nervous to sit down fairly sure that Jakob had hurt her far worse than he would ever want to imagine. That paranoid Russian barbarian was a damn good bodyguard but far too distrusting of the wrong people and not unfortunately he can not make him pay for hurting Kalani.

Steve just went straight for it and didn't sugar coat it.
"Aladair, listen. Kalani went to the Dr and she.......she lost the baby. I'm sorry."

 

[Asa]

Thank whoever killed Jakob for me... not that I would not love still to rip him apart myself. Where is she now... Is My Dr tending to her?

He shook his head.

NO... I must not worry she and I... Thank you for telling me Officer.

Turning he looked more broken and defeated than anything the world govenments could have done to him as he called for the guard not even turning to say goodbye.

Steve turned and left. He headed back to office when the phone rang. Danny grabbed it .

"Hello?"

Oh Hello govenor what can i do you for since your boy toy steve isn't here.

Yes Maam... I see... yes... entertaining that they went through you to tell me this. Very well... Would you remind them when they call you back... yes I am sure they will... Tell them I have to tie up the last of this case before AI start another one... thank you... yes I know his connection to this case... No that will not be a problem... at all. Hanging up the phone she took a long drink of her coffee walked into her office and closing the door placed a call...

Crash the plane by noon... new case... keep transport ready on a moments notice for Vietnam or Japan Starting tonight. Thank you

Walking back out her entire attitude changed it was very military very distant as she went to the conference panel and began looking up things quickly.

She quickly closed down what she was researching as he walked over.

Beyond that I permanently lose one alias to death tomorrow at noon. So Danny moving to a type of place you hate to be close to your daughter... very admirable. Let me know if the Ex causes any more custody problems... They won't be problems for long... especially if her current husband keeps trying for overseas interests International might take an interest in him.

She smirked but there was something about her tone that was almost lethal about the subject.

Danny's eyebrow raised at the mention of his ex. "Ummm... i knew you were good but what sort of overseas interest are you talking about?" He knew his ex's new man was sort of a quirky guy with some shady deals falling out one after another.

BUt that she knew and mentioning international's attention...jesus.

His company is wanting to open a few businesses overseas... including buying two clubs at auction that were previously owned by... questionable organizations...

She smiled... I don't plan on seeing them move anywhere that takes your daughter out of your life... you are far too nice of a guy to have to go through that even if you do have a problem with Kamekona's shrimp styles... and I know before you say it Shrimp is maybe fired but is put on this earth for Scampi...

She pat him on the back...

Don't worry all his business interests are legit but to help you out I could raise a few questions

"Thanks. I would love to have some help. Damn courts." He shook his head."I just want to spend time with my daughter."

She smiled to him as she made her way to the coffee pot. She had deflected Danny fairly easily but he did not know her as good as the others did. Chin and Kona would be harder to distract if they ever heard anything about the case.

She knew that Steve would go ballistic if he knew who she was supposed to take down. Orders were simple destroy Wo Fat's US operations within his business and leave everyone running scared in hopes that he would run back to whatever Yakuza contacts he had for safe passage back home to Japan.
