MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The liberal-controlled Wisconsin Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments Tuesday in a redistricting case that Democrats hope will result in new, more favorable legislative ...

Wisconsin’s the epitome of a battleground state, and yet, the "republicans" are a hair’s breadth away from securing a super-majority in both the assembly and the senate.

Something is seriously wrong with democracy and equal representation in America.

Ohio Supreme Court dismisses 3 long-running redistricting lawsuits against state legislative maps

The two-year legal battle over maps of Ohio Statehouse districts crafted in response to the 2020 Census may be over.

'In a dissenting opinion written by Justice Jennifer Brunner, the court’s three Democrats argued that dismissing the cases forces groups fighting the maps to either give up without their objections being heard — or to start again with a fresh lawsuit.

“It is illusory to suggest that a bipartisan vote to adopt the September 2023 plan constitutes a change in circumstances that somehow diminishes our review power or renders a unanimous redistricting plan constitutionally compliant,” she wrote.'

This is absurd!

ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia lawmakers opened a special session Wednesday as majority Republicans moved to minimize their losses while also trying to increase the number of Black-majority districts to comply with a federal court order.

It’s one in a series of redistricting sessions across the South after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the 1964 Voting Rights Act, clearing the way for Black voters to win changes from courts.
(y) BUT not without messing with democrat seats, though...

Georgia House Republicans on Tuesday released a map that would likely cost them only two seats from their current 102-78 majority while creating five more majority-Black districts that Democrats would be likely to win. That's because the map would also pair three sets of Democratic incumbents, meaning Democrats would lose three of those members after 2024 elections

“The majority proposal is a shell game that continues to dilute the voting power of Black Georgians,” Senate Minority Leader Gloria Butler, a Stone Mountain Democrat, said at a news conference Wednesday.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee's highest court on Friday temporarily blocked a lower court's decision that lawmakers must redraw the state's Senate maps in a ruling that means the current legislative districts will likely remain in place for the 2024 elections.

Late last month, a panel of judges ruled that the Republican-drawn map violated the state Constitution because lawmakers incorrectly numbered the seats in left-leaning Nashville. The numbers are important because they determine the years those seats are on the ballot.

There is one easy solution to this problem. Republicans use the census data to gerrymander districts by race. Everyone needs to put White as their race when filling out the census form. When the census data is completely unreliable then they have no way to gerrymander by race because everyone is white!

The white population in Cobb County Georgia is plummeting.

61% in the 2010 census,
51% in the 2020 census,
currently around 48% today.

Whites have always enjoyed a 80-90% supermajority on their far-right school board, which is getting harder and harder to do when you have less than half of the racial composition needed to elect such a board. This is why they gerrymander.

The plaintiffs claim the 2022 map, drawn by a judicial redistricting commission, improperly divided districts by favoring compactness over political subdivisions like cities.
