I'm editing the series "Twins Saved by Nudity". It has developed into a parody of lit stories and it's getting to be very funny. The author is, at this point, intentionally trying to hit nearly every category possible. Upcoming chapters hit Nonhuman, BDSM, Mature... this series has it all!

But Chapter 16 just got posted and it ended up under "Erotic Couplings". It's definitely a "First Time" story and I'm kind of enjoying watching the author twist this thing around in his crazy attempt to hit every category. So, who decides the category? And, how do we appeal the miscategorization of poor old Capt 16?

I think the author should decide the category. Sometimes, multi-chapter stories will get posted under Novel and Novellas and as far as I'm concerned, that covers all the categories. But posting each chapter in its own category is acceptable, too. It tells the reader what to expect and if he/she is into the story but prefers not to read stuff in certain categories, they will either just skim the chapter or read it knowing it needs to be tied in with the rest of the story.

I did, however, once have the mods of Lit change a category of my story before it posted. I put it in Erotic Couplings, because that was in essence what the story was (it could have gone in Romance too) but because the first chapter had a mild girl-on-girl scene in it, they put it in Lesbian Sex. The female characters weren't lesbians, in the story, they just got caught up in the moment. But they (the mods) put the story in Lesbian Sex and it bombed.

By the time it got moved back to the correct category, the damage was done and it's never gotten above a 4.45 in the ratings.

As for moving a story, simply submit the story as you normally would, but after the title put - EDTED (so if the title was Twins Saved By Nudity, then you'd submit it as Twins Saved By Nudity - EDITED) and then select the category you want it in.

Then put in the NOTES field that you'd like the story moved from the category its in to the category selected for the "edit."
