Looking to improve a Story and twist it

Okay, so I came across this good story on another site and it's not been published here. It does have some major flaws, like how it doesn't completely flow together and some of it is unbelievable. Plus it has some major grammar and spelling mistakes.

Still, it's a great story, and it's one that I want to first make flawless and then twist it a lot so that it becomes mine and no one can accuse me of stealing it or something like that.

I need some help with that. I want to give it closure that the original author doesn't give.

The story itself fits into the BDSM category best.

No, I don't, and there's no way to get it. That's why I want to twist it a lot, so that even if they read it on here, they wouldn't recognize it as theirs.

Why don’t you just take a similar theme, and write your own story, so much easier and you are not open to being accused of stealing someone else’s work

I agree with those who've advised an attempt based primarily on your "mental impressions" of the overarching premise. Let the story come from your imagination knowing the direction you want to take — but without relying on another author's details.
