Real People?

I'm just curious, how many out there have inserted real people into your stories? I'm not talking about Britney Spears or Madonna, I mean girls (or guys) that you've dated or that you know in real life.

Speaking for myself, I think it's a real turn-on to insert girls who I've known, dated, wished I'd fucked, etc. and make them do my bidding, ha ha ha! Mostly, I use girls I knew in high school or college that I would like to have known better.

"Doing the Sorority" has a character named Christine who's based on an ex-girlfriend of mine with a hardline stand against pre-marital sex - something she'll get over in the story!

Sapphire from "Sappho's Amulet" is a real prostitute I ran into in Las Vegas (I did not make complete use of her services, though I did fork over twenty bucks to watch her lick another girl's pussy and suck her tits, the only time I've seen such a thing in real life).

I introduced the character of Fawne into "Population Crisis" in honor of a girl I knew in high school with whom I had a situation similar to the character in the story - she was "just a friend" but I lusted for her, even though she didn't know it.

These are not their real names (except in the case of Sapphire, which I'm sure wasn't her real name either, but it was the one she gave me) but they are based on the real people as accurately as possible. It's fun, it's harmless because no one knows who they are, and it allows me a little fantasy fulfillment.

Anyone else?

I have issues with using actual people in stories, personally. I just feel that it's an invasion of privacy on them because you're publicly displaying them in a likely undesired light. This might be one of the reasons why movies and TV shows present the disclaimer that all characters are fictitious and any resemblance to actual people is coincidental. Even though the actual person may never see these stories, to me it feels like I've exploited them.

Of course, everyone is entitle to their own point of view, so I'm not lambasting you for your use of actual people. I'm fine with it if you are. ;)

Mostly my characters are made-up, but I've drawn in a general way on situations and people I've known.

I've only written one character based on a specific person rather than a type. (security guard Maria in SparkyMan's Best Man's Diary, changed significantly in identifying details from the original). I drew on her personality because she had worked in a similar job. Of course by the end of writing the thread, the character was really a very different person from the one I knew.

The secretary in Office Morale, Patty, borrows her looks but not her peekaboo hairstyle from someone in a company I worked for. She's otherwise made up.

I don't know that I know anyone well enough to really base a character on them, beyond a "cameo" or an "inspired by". Plus the logic of the story usually takes you away from your experience of that person anyway.

Nope, I've never done it... I'm with artican here, I'd feel somewhat uncomfortable with talking about people I know in an erotic story. I very much like to write about "existing fictionnal" characters, such as Jessica Rabbit or Lara Croft, or characters I've created myself in other non-erotic stories, but that's not the same thing...

Reading is another business entirely since I can't really tell where you get your inspiration. If it's from people you know, more power to you. :)

I definitely use real people as an inspiration for certain characters. I don't find it hard to do, it is easier to write about people I know. The characters of course end up very different from the "real" people so I don't really feel odd about it.

:D

I use real people, real situations sometimes, and sometimes not. If I am using a real person, I always obtain permission to do so. So far this has not been a problem, in fact, those involved were flattered.

I've never used a real person in one of my stories yet, although several are mentioned in Rock Festival and one or two are based off a real person. I have used a few TV characters in my stories though.

One or two of the characters in my threads for Lilith Strain have been based on real people; one based entirely, name and all, on a dear friend of mine who sadly died a few years back (and I'm 100% certain she would have loved the idea of becoming a succubus). Another is the classic concatenation of several different people I know, and one or two are physically based upon particular people, but with names and a few character traits changed.

In general, I think it's quite healthy to base your characters on real people - after all, I'm fairly sure we all fantasise about same said real people fairly regularly, and isn't fantasy 95% of the point of CHYOO?

Hello,
well it's been a few days since I have visited the forums and I found this thread kind of interesting. I enjoy reading about the way others write their stories and create their characters. Now about my characters, in the past (before Chyoo) I use to write stories about the girls I had a crush on in highschool. Now all those stories are long gone. Which Chyoo I haven't used any real people. I have taken situations and characteristics and used them for CHyoo. Almost all of my sexual experiences and fantasies can be found in A College Girl To Be... I've based Characters apperances from pornstars, but to me, they're not real people I know.

Anyway, great discussion guys and gals.

I'm new to the forum, so let me first say, Hi all!

Ok, I have used real people for names, but not personalities. Manly this is just because I tend to go blank somtimes trying to think of ANOTHER name for a new character. And sometimes I try to mix up the original name a bit so if the original owner of the name reads it, she doesn't know it's her. For example, in 'Meeting Your Girlfriend's Mom' I have a character who I took the last name of my first girlfriend for her first name, and gave her a last name formed from the town she was from.

But as for personalities, I just make up what the plot requires.

Not people, but situations

I haven't had the opportunity to use real people as my characters, since I've just started my first story (see my .sig), and all the threads I've written for other stories used other people's characters.

One thing I have done is use situations that I've been in. Particular lovemaking scenes, conversations, expression of feelings, etc.

I hadn't realized it, but one scene I wrote was very similar to one I had several years ago (which I realized when I wrote it), but what I didn't remember was that the character's name was the same as the woman I had the situation with. I wonder if my unconscious mind did that on purpose.

I don't feel that using portions of personality or physical characteristics of real people is wrong or bad. I do feel that presenting a character who has the personality, physical attributes, AND name of a real person goes over the line, especially in erotica. Putting such a character into a situation that you were in with them would go WAY over the line. But, as long as you change something, I don't feel to concerned. Writers do it all the time.
