Real men

Live up to your responsibilities. Have the strength of your convictions. Accept responsibilty for your actions. Become mindfull of the community. Recognize the world that exists beyond the bridge of your nose. Build something.

What he said. And it also helps to have one of those things between your legs.

The only two things you need to have to be a real man is the proper plumbing and the desire to be male. That's about the size of it. Now there are some men who are better than others, like DCL is better than Ramlick, and there are some men who are more feminine than women. However "realness" is defined by the man himself.

It is I the Gnufi who is the constituting of a real man that I am with the big Gnufi cock I am always the having!

I couldn't add much to what DCL said.....

Therefore I'd have to say in the World Of Lit.....it takes a real man to flame DCL and walk away without looking like a total idiot.

Kind of along the lines....if you're gonna engage in a battle of wits, you'd better come armed.

OK - I'm in a somewhat offbeat mood today....the work stress is rather high for the next few weeks. But what I said first is what I'll stick with. DCL summarized it very well for me also.

Real man?

It depends on who's doing the defining. Anyone, male or female can be real as long as they first accept themselves for who they are with out pretention.

Somehow, I doubt that, Dixon. Aspiring at being a better man than a idiotic, full of himself, moronic, slug with a serious case of non-existent foot-in-mouth disease is like aspiring to be a better comedian than Carrothead, or aspiring to be more human than a rock, or aspiring to gaining the ability of blinking.

There are no pretenses...As long as you (as a person, regardless of sex) can be honest and forthright about your positive AND negative qualities then you are REAL.

None of us is perfect, hon, we all have +'s and -'s. It's trying to maintain a balance of those qualities.

Oh yes, I love you too!

A real man.....

Feels very comfortable - proud - of being a man.

A real man is glad he's a man.

A real man is glad he's not a woman.

A real man love's women.

A real man wants women.

A real man is very, very, very glad and proud - to have a penis - and can't imagine life without one.

Those are the very basics of what it is to be a real man.

All the other stuff differs in regard to time, history and social climate.

Today - real men are required to be sensitive to others wants and needs - AND - kick ass when required. A bit of a strange combo. But - that is what is generally required. Today.

It depends.....

If a gay man might fit the above criteria - then yes.

A dick does not "a man" make.

It's how one "feels about having a dick" - that counts.

A woman - with no dick at all - can be a man - if she/he has the right attitude.

Being a "real" man is all about attitude....

Attitude "centered" on and around - the male organ - the penis.

Attitude - not necessarily physicality.

But of course that helps.

Conceptualizing "real man" is all about stereotyping a gender. If you don't qualify as a "real man" or a "man's man" then what are you? Less than a man? Less than the thing you were born as? A fake man? A pretender at masculinity?

I have a lot of masculine traits and quite frequently complain about being more of a "man" than the men around me. But that's not actually true, nor how I feel. I feel like one of the most feminine people on the planet even though I prefer mudbogging to mud facials.

It's a mistake to confuse masculinity with machismo.

KM?

YES!

And I never used the word - nor suggested Macho.

Like I said - it's a dick thing - attitude and dick - dick and attitude.

Maybe you just "can't" understand.

I'm certain - I can't understand - the "pussy" thing. I don't have the attitude.

So, let's take some random examples. Feel free to C&P or just quote. Feel free to not comment.

I would not know any of these folks.

I would have to "know them" - to know if there were anything real at all about them - at all.

You are not. I know you that well.

Dammit, and I try so hard. What is it? The skirts? Sean Connery wears one. The combat boots? Hell, the marine corps wears them. The fondness for furry things? Who can get on without a good huntin dog? It's the killer isn't it. Too feminine. Drat it all.

Hey, I got that "drat it all" from an upstanding male member of her majesty's royal air force about 30 seconds after he found out that not only was the StudMuffin married, but he was offended by the mere speculation that a homosexual wanted in his pants. I thought it was very "real mannish" to use that phrase. Oh bother.
