Tell us the truth, you were doing rails the night that avatar picture was taken.

Habit of a lifetime?

I used to be the liberal hippie type. Back when being liberal meant having an open mind to other ideas...

The problem with political threads here or anywhere else is the same issue I have with any subject in a chat room anywhere.

Everyone is an expert. Why? because they read a thread then google the subject and come back to the thread and spout what they read like they knew it already.

Everyone on the internet is a genius in every field.

I'm not saying there are not people here who aren't knowledgeable about a variety of subjects, but let's face it if someone started a thread about the history of dryer lint there would be posters coming out with 6 paragraph scientific explanations and claim they either "worked in the lint field" or have a degree in lintology

These days people aren't just smart, they're google smart:rolleyes:

a lot of truth here, but there are people with genuine knowledge. the problem lies more in discerning between those who actually know stuff (and aren't slanting facts to fit their own opinion) and those who are, as you phrase it, google-smart and cherry-picking 'facts' to support their particular pov.

dolf is one of the people i'd trust for sound knowledge on a host of topics, since i believe she is more interested in facts and truth than using statistics to support her own theories regardless of honest interpretation. i do not think she's a genius or super-knowlegeable, but has that core common-sense i appreciate in others.
