cauliflower? ooops! Sorry!;)

cancer. i talked to a lady today who hasn't been in to see us in several months. she tells me the reason why is because she was diagnosed with breast cancer in november. she got a double mastectomy and from what she tells me, she's getting a pretty aggressive round of chemotherapy treatments and has to avoid standing or walking for long periods of time because it drains her of her energy. she's hopeful that she'll be released to go back to work in a few months.

and just a couple of weeks ago, my boss attended the memorial service for a close friend of his who lost his battle with cancer.

...just tired of hearing that word every time i turn around. *sigh*

Everyone I know is out tonight after a long week of work. I am stuck home.... no wine either!!! I want to cry now.

I'm on call at the hospital for the next 48 hours. In the past 2 years, I've seen my share of suffering and death and grief. I volunteer at the hospital I work as a counselor. I'm called in when there is a death. The rest of the time I work in th or area helping families as loved ones are having surgery. sometimes it's not good news. Not sleeping well either. I need a break.

My mind is completely clear and unfocused for once. This is a rarity for me, as typically it's going at a million miles per hour.
