Why do they sell things like franfkurters in packs of five, or packs of 8 but the rolls in packs of six?

I believe this question was asked in a certain Ask thread (*coughminecough*)

But since you asked.

At one time, the bread companies and the meat companies did not work in unison.
They packed it the way they wanted to.

At least over here in the States, the bread companies finally figured it out and started packing buns in packages of eight to match the hot dogs (i.e. Frankfurters, wieners).

There are still discrepancies when it comes to smoked sausages, brats, etc.

But considering that buns are just bread, one could simply just use them for sandwiches anyway. Or other types of things where a longer roll is preferred.

I guess either pronunciation is correct, but pick one and stick with it, don't keep jumping back and forth, sometimes saying it differently in the same sentence.....grrrr. Qatar......Cut-tar or Cutter.

I was wondering if I was the only one that finds this frustrating as hell..

I'm also wondering how much of the Olympics I am going to watch going forward if I have to be bombarded with comment after report after special reminding me of my social obligations to the environment, inclusion, wealth inequity, etc, etc. Can't we just watch the fucking games?

I'll start feeling more obligated about those things I am supposed to feel guilty about, when Rio stops pumping their poop right into the river and ocean.

I hate to be unhelpful but I understand it is pronounced Gattr, or Guttr!

I like to be acknowledged on the threads, but I don't like to converse on the threads that much... if that makes sense.

I hereby acknowledge your presence, and your excellent buffet thread, a feast for the eyes...:rose:

I've spent quite some time in that part of the world, as it happens... :)

I apologize, didn't mean to imply I was speaking directly to your travels. That being said, do you pronounce is Cut-tar, Cutter, or Gutter like me?

To be fair to Brazil and Rio, I don't think all the social awareness is their doing. Where was the international outrage at a bankrupt country committing billions of dollars they do not have to build facilities to host the World Cup and now the Olympics. All while so much of the country languishes in poverty. Not to mention the pollution and rain forest destruction that continues...

I attribute the social bombardment on a combination of the Olympics and the fact that it's being hosted by NBC/MSNBC.

I have a very strong social conscience. It's mine and I am no one's puppet. So I don't appreciate being preached at/to while I am trying to watch a world sporting event...

No apology needed! Gattr is what I was taught, though my time there was in more southerly part of the Gulf. :)
