I'm too old for Cougars but my college alma mater's mascot is the cougar so I still like Cougars.
University of Houston? I'm guessing it's NOT Brigham Young.
Some schools (maybe more like high schools and younger) are changing from the Cougar mascot because of the sexual undertones the name now has.

Yes Houston. Wow, I have known that it was one of the most popular school mascots but didn't even think of people wanting to change it because of the sexual undertones.

Down here, They have changed the names of some schools and because they were either named after people that were in some way connected to slavery and also changed some mascot names because they could be found to be offensive.

actually, one year, my roommate and I had this idea to sell condoms on campus. The name of the mascot was Roscoe the Ram. Our ad slogan was "Before you ram it, wrap that Roscoe"
we never did it though
