If you live to be 70. Your going to spend 10 years of your life on Mondays.
Well now, isn't that just a cheery little thought!

If an English muffin is simply referred to as a muffin in the U.K. then what an (American) muffin called? e.g. Blueberry muffin.
Also a muffin. Which is confusing. Although muffins as in flattish breadcakes are perhaps less prevalent these days, whereas muffins as in fluffy chocolate (or whatever) mounds are everywhere!
We should call them American muffins, really, I suppose.

Ahhh... the mystery answered! Thank you.
Now I'd love a choclate chip muffin with my cofeee this morning. Mmm....
I thought it was called a crumpet?

Oh no, a crumpet is something completely different. I adore a crumpet - all those little crevices for the butter to melt into, and then it running down your chin as you eat it. And the finger-licking afterwards...

I really want a crumpet now. I'd take a crumpet over a muffin (English or American), any day of the week![]()

That looks like what we would call an English muffin.![]()
I have not had a crumpet in years. Now I want one.
They do, but they are subtly different. Spongier, slightly sweeter (I think).
It looks a LOT like a U.S. "English Muffin" but it's not. They are clearly related and I think "English Muffin" is the U.S. "imitation."
Ah... okay, thank you.![]()
