Is there an English equivalent for the Dutch name 'Wytze' or 'Wijtze'?

Alstublieft :)

Wytse or Wytze is a 'Friese' name. It is used as a first name. Friesland is a part of the Netherlands (north). They have their own language (fries of frys). Their language goes back to the old germanic languages.

Wis or Wys means 'war' or warrior but here it is used in the positive meaning of protector or 'one who shields another one from harm'.

English equivalent: ???????

Thank you!

I thought that it might be a Fries name based on the person's last name.

I was just thinking that maybe Wytze correlated with some English name (like William or something) the way, say, Jan becomes John or Antje often becomes Anna.

Figures that it doesn't. ha
