Probably she should get some credit for putting up with Ike Turner for a while. She didn't have a lot of acting roles, but she was memorable in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.

The popularity of the dance, apparently, is mostly an Australian thing. Tina didn't know about it until she was asked one day by an Oz reporter what she thought of it. She liked it - whether or not she actually performed the dance steps, I don't know.I never heard the Nutbush song before, but it's amazing how - I assume accurately - she describes it. It's worth looking up the lyrics and examining them closely.
It's northeast of Memphis, and Route 19 is now named the Tina Turner Highway.
You go the field on week days
And have a picnic on Labor Day
You go to town on Saturdays
But go to church every Sunday
They call it Nutbush
Oh, Nutbush
In 1969, while staying at the Fort Worther Motel in Fort Worth, Texas, Jennings saw an advertisement in a newspaper promoting Tina Turner as a "good hearted woman loving two-timing men", a reference to Ike Turner. Jennings went to talk to Nelson, who was in a middle of a poker game, about writing a song based on that phrase. Joining the game, he and Nelson expanded the lyrics as Nelson's wife Connie Koepke wrote them down.
I wasn't sure what you were talking about, but now I know. This is news to me.The popularity of the dance, apparently, is mostly an Australian thing. Tina didn't know about it until she was asked one day by an Oz reporter what she thought of it. She liked it - whether or not she actually performed the dance steps, I don't know.
True, but she was the one who actually lived it. But hey, everybody covers everybody else's songs, and that's fine.I wish Bob Seger and Tina had the chance to team up on Nutbush both were great on that tune
I'm just saying that Seger put energy and familiarity into Nutbush on the Live Bullet album that did Tina's version proud, it made me believe that Nutbush was in Michigan also.True, but she was the one who actually lived it. But hey, everybody covers everybody else's songs, and that's fine.
