All the worlds a stage, and all the men and women, merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts.
As You Like It, William Shakespear.

But my favourite is
All things are in the act of change; thou thyself in ceaseless transformation and partial decay and the whole universe with thee.
Marcus A Antonius

This is a bit of a random quote, but I can't get it out of my head because it's been said SOOOO many times (I work at a friggin' school)

'It's easier to do something right the first time than to explain why you did it wrong' -- Robert Louis Stephenson.

In war, there is no substitute for victory.

War is one of the scourges with which it has pleased God to afflict men.

It is impossible to defend perfectly against the attack of those who want to die.

The pen may be stronger than the sword... but I'd rather have a sword in a dark alley.

"Why did God create men? Because vibrators can't mow the lawn." -- Madonna

"People say, 'I'm ugly and I hate myself,' but if you truly hated yourself, you'd be glad you were ugly." -- Bob George

"Build a man a fire and he'll be warm the rest of the day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm the rest of his life." -- Terry Pratchett

I love quotes.

Last poster - Terry Pratchett is the king!

My quote (for now) -

Celery is good for the nerves - and I've got a lotta nerve. Bugs Bunny

I liked this sooo much

I will dedicate it to MYSELF!!!

When angry, count to four; when very angry, swear. ~Mark Twain

One of my favorites is:

"The destiny of the world is determined less by the battles that are lost and won than by the stories it loves and believes in." —Harold Goddard

Love that one.

Oh I am actually reading through this thread now. I like it! I love quotes!

Sorry I missed the "trouser dragon" posting before or I would not have posted it in another thread. Personally I'd like to fuck, suck and do a few other things with it but anyway...

Ahh, we say that in microbiology and chemistry, too. Especially in regards to proteins.

Boy I'm nerdy when drunk.

Biography becomes Biology.

Me too.

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnett, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently and die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."

I like this one too:

"I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. "

Ooh! This one is great too!

"One could write a history of science in reverse by assembling the solemn pronouncements of highest authority about what could not be done and could never happen. "

"i've lost my mind. No worries though, it's backed up on one of my hard drives .... somewhere.".

More Heinlein - TANSTAAFL "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch."
And - "An armed society is a polite society."

And let's not forget Sturgeon's Law: "90% of everything is Crap." - Theodore Sturgeon

And Maya's Corollary to Sturgeon's Law: "Sturgeon was at least 9% low."

And Geoff's Postulate to Maya's Corollary: "Sturgeon made his estimate before the Internet!"

And I wish I knew who said this, I learned it from my grandfather:

"It is better to have the world think you are fool, and to suffer in silence, than to open your mouth and dispell all doubts thereof!"

Mark Twain was the author of the last quote.

When my mother would cook something different, and somewhat unusual, then ask my father what he thought of it, he would always say...
"Well, I'll eat it, but I wouldn't order it in a restaurant."

My dad was such a card. ;)
