I'm a big fan of quotes and trivial information. Does anyone here run across a saying that reminds them of someone here on Lit (or a saying you think someone would particularly like) and wish they had an opportunity to use it? :nana:

Maybe I'm the only one who'll get a kick out of this thread, but please post if you get the urge. I'll kick it off; This one goes out to my (still) favorite person in the world. ;)

Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws.

For Rosco

But thus do I counsel you, my friends: distrust all in whom the impulse to punish is powerful!

Not really a quote....more of a lyric haha, but makes me think of Rosco

Passion, though a bad regulator, is a powerful spring. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

The same passions in man and woman nonetheless differ in tempo; hence man and woman do not cease misunderstanding one another. ~Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil

for two people

In the future, instead of striving to be right at a high cost, it will be more appropriate to be flexible and plural at a lower cost. If you cannot accurately predict the future then you must flexibly be prepared to deal with various possible futures.

Late 60s-mid-70s: they had a radio show and made comedy albums. Very funny and often profound stuff to trip to. :)

For DVS: "Oh man! He broke the president!"

Yeah! Bring on Groucho! "I wouldn't be a member of any club that would have me as a member."

Someone whose utterances seem similiar to Groucho's although they weren't as planned or sardonic was Yogi Berra: "When you come to a fork in the road...take it."

I'm not tripping but that's funny.

I wish I had the knack for remmbering quotes. But here is one of the few I can remmber and I think it may have been bette davis, but I'm not sure.

That was hilarious. I have all of their albums. Sure, they were usually listened to while on drugs, but seriously, their comedy was so involved you had to listen closely, or you would miss some of the more profound stuff.
"I Think We're all Bozos on This Bus" is a prime example of that. It was kind of a look into a strange digital robotic circus world, but many years before digital even existed. And it was far more than just jokes and voices. I wonder if it would even be considered funny, in this fast paced world of quick one-liners.

Sorry for the hijack.
