Hubby and I saw previews for a film last weekend out on dvd/video called quills. It looked sexy, erotic, set in France in the late 1700's . The previews showed nothing but sex in one form or another. I am thinking what a great warm up to an evening of SEX.

We rented it. It sucked! I mean it was so bad I watched the whole this in disbelief thinking it has to get better than this.

I am so mad  We don't get to watch movies together that often. We're really busy people. Did anyone else see this movie? Am I overreacting here?

You didn't realize it was about the Marquis de Sade? That should have given you a clue. I thought it was a good movie, but definitely not one to "put you in the mood."

I think I missed that in the previews. I would have still watched it but with different expectations. Maybe that was the problem wrong expectations. The trailer for the film did present the theme of the movie a bit differently than it played out. I guess given a different expectation I might have liked it a lot more. I kept hoping the Abbe and Madeline to get together.

That's one I want to see. The Marquis de Sade has always interested me.

Maybe if they had drawn more parallels between the writings and the doctors wife and her affair... I don't know. I was just left feeling cheated somehow.

I saw it, I loved it. Maybe most of the history and humor went over your head. Not every story is "Happily ever after." Next time rent a straight porno flick. If you read the back cover, you probably would have realized what it was about. No need to get huffy over it.

Personally, I thought it was an excellent movie! Unfortunately, it never showed in the theaters in this area, so I had to rent it when it came out on video. Liked it so much that I bought it.

I thought it was well acted and well written. Of course, that could be a biased opinion.......I think the Marquis de Sade is a fascinating character....he and I would have probably had a lot in common! ;)

I have seen this movie, knew what it was about beforehand, and loved it. Jeffrey Rush was fantastic. I agree that it would not put you into the mood unless seeing Kate Winslet's boobs do it for you.
