I currently take my pill at night before I go to sleep, but I want to start taking it in the morning....I know it says on the directions or whatever to take it approx. the same time every day...if I start taking it in the morning in the middle of my cycle of pills will that make it less effective??

If you're going to change your pill schedule I'd recommend doing it either right after your period or using condoms for a few weeks after doing it.

Some women's bodies are more sensative to BCP's then others.
Still, shouldn't cause a huge problem and the condoms or other form of birth control are more of a safety net then anything else.
Still, better safe then sorry.

I think it depends on how you time the change in schedule. If you change from an evening schedule to morning schedule, there will be one day that the level of BCP in your system is higher than normal for 8-12 hours -- this is NOT a risk.

Shifting the opposite direction (mornings to evenings) the transition period would be a a time when there is a lower than normal level of BCP in your system.

Since most pills come with instructions to double up the next day if you miss a day, I suspect that changing your schedule, or having an irregular schedule, won't make a great deal of difference in how effective the pill is.

Although a precise schedule is obviously preferable to keep the levels of hormones steady, BCPs seem to be designed with a bit of room for error in them; as long as you take all of the pills in one cycle the average ormone level will stay high enough to prevent pregnancy. (as long as you don't wait and take the whole cycle at once. :))

However, every woman is unique and will react slightly differently to a particular formulation of BCP, so consulting your doctor or a nursing hotline is probably the best advice.

That was great Werid Harold. Thank you so much....It's not like I NEED to change when I take my pill...I just want to....but what you said makes perfect sense....thanks so much!! :)
