I don't know how we'll vote or decide on winners, but hey, I'm starting the first, annual, Literotica Author's Hangout:

:nana: Pumpkin Carving Contest! :nana:

Sometime this month, when you carve that pumpkin, take a picture and upload it here for us all to see and judge and delight in. Extra points if the picture includes the pumpkin "in situ"--that is, on your doorstep (or in the window, or whatever), among any other seasonal decorations, alight and glowing in the dark.

We'll award prizes to:
1) Scariest Pumpkin
2) Prettiest Pumpkin
3) Most erotic Pumpkin (cause this is Lit)
4) Most unique/clever/weird Pumpkin

Multiple entries welcome and allowed. And if you're from outside the U.S. where other types of veggies are carved instead of pumkins, that's also allowed.

Enjoy!

My place is not big enough for a pumpkin. Mind if I just go apeshit with a pair of scissors on an avocado or something?

Addendum: Feel free to also use this thread to share pumpkin carving secrets, tips, and stories :cathappy:

Only once in my life I carved a pumpkin - and I cut my hand very badly. This is a dangerous contest.

Indeed! Pumpkin Carving is not for the faint of heart. This contest will require courage, wits, a keen eye, a steady hand and...big knives. This is a deadly serious contest requiring blood, sweat and tears! Only the most daring will survive.

For those wishing to carve safely and quietly, however, (*cough*wimps!*cough*), there are pumpkin carving kits. Or you can make your own kit using the following suggested tools, none of which are likely to land you in the emergency room....

No. Not when miniature pumpkins are avaliable
Feh. I doubt I can even find a regular pumpkin anywhere near where I live. I'm haloweenishly challenged.

Can't enter this one. The shrinks won't let me play with anything sharper than a rubber ball. ;)

Never carved a pumpkin in my life, don't get much into the whole halloween thing, but this year, I might just give it a try. I'll have to do it out of sight of the wife, she'd be constantly worrying about me cutting myself.

I believe, in olden days, that turnips were used. So turnips are an acceptable substitute.

I'm tempted to look for a pumpkin so I can take out my Halloween frustration on it.

liar - i have seen lots of places that sell pumpkins. they exist. i am, however, wondering if one could carve an aubergine. or a strawberry.

oh oh oh! i bought a few boxes of quinoa in an ICA market - i was surprised at how cheap it was there, here i can only get it at bio-food stores, i think, and would pay lots and lots. so maybe i should just carve one quinoa grain?

I was going to unleash my carving powers on a basmati grain, but I think you win.
