Prostitution legal or illegal?

I'd like to see sacred prostitution brought back and legalized. Not the system as it is, though.

But isn't prostitution sacred now? Since money is our God and they're screwing for money? ;)

I am also curios as to what age requirements should be in place for a brothel. Should the women have to be 21 or older or should they be allowed to join at 18? Big money could be made by offering a young 18 year old virgin with no experience to a man but then there is also room for abuse by having surgeries done to "re-virginize" young women and offer them up a couple times.

I can't imagine they could possibly charge enough to cover the cost of the surgery. I'm sure there are those out there who would gladly pay 5K to be a cherry-poppin' daddy, but that market is rather limited.

I have NEVER understood the fascination of being with a virgin as opposed to being with a woman who knows what she is about.

I can't see how additional "pleasure" can be derived from tearing a bit of vaginal flesh.

A virgin is inexperienced by definition. She doesn't know what Kegel muscles are much less how to use them. She is not skilled in any way of giving / receiving pleasure.

I personally prefer to be with a woman who knows how to have / receive good sex, thereby making it better for both of us.

So, help me out here - what's the big deal?

It's power and ego, Safe. To go where no man has gone before.

There's a surgeon in Spain who makes a very nice living restoring the hymens of Saudi princesses. $35,000 a pop, as it were. He does a couple every month.

But since said princesses can murdered for not being virgins while unmarried, it's worth it to them.

The unspoken assumption is that while women are expected to be virgins, men are expected to have a level of experience necessary recognize a genuine, intact hymen.

Totally. Fucked. Up.

what i still don't get

is the utter failure of dialogue.

everyone in this thread says 'legalize'. we know that, in the US, a majority of voters and legislators [even in the blue states] says, "do not legalize."

we are here, 'preaching to the choir'? are we unable to engage anyone else?

@pure

I guess we could start by analyzing WHY people say no. I think its mostly religious reasons and quote-endquote common moral reasoning that says prostitution should be illegal.

I think there needs to be and would be a lot of regulation in the field of whoring. This probably needs to be explained to critics. There is a huge difference between allowing prostitution anywhere in a city and separating brothels into red light districts.

@Safe-bet

If it exists someone, somewhere has a fetish for it and is willing to drop big money to do it with a virgin. Is it a small number of people? Yes, but there is a small market for it.

You have to ask what some people get out of screwing a girl with a Darth Vader mask on. I personally choose not to ask. :eek:

Most of those who do not want to legalise or regulate prostitution do not want to recognise that there is a need for prostitution. Their reasons could vary from religious conviction that it is sinful to ostrich-like ignorance, wanting prostitution to go away. They are unlikely to be persuaded by rational argument, social or health considerations because their mindset is against prostitution in any form.

In Victorian London, at the time when religious observance was at its height, there were more prostitutes as a proportion of the population than at any time before or since. It has been estimated that the proportion equated to every adult male visiting a prostitute once every five days. As many did not, or claimed that they didn't, those that did must have been very active. :D

I do not want legalization. I don't think you can have prostitution without an increase in violence and abuse towards women. Just my highly uninformed, unresearched opinion.

And it would be true if it weren't regulated as well as legal. We license doctors to protect the public. We license beauticians to protect the public and, given the nasty chemicals they work with, regulate their workplaces to protect them. Today, prostitution is the most dangerous work a woman can go into. A few of them chose it for that very reason, a very few, I hope. Legalization/regulation will benefit both society and the prostitutes. Only the pimps will lose out. Awwwww . . .
