Depending on your definition of “great,” there’s February Sucks and all of the various (over a hundred!) sequels, alternate takes, etc. It’s a divisive story that feels a lot like a nightmare, and not very erotic, but it’s also hugely influential in Loving Wives. In it, a wife, otherwise stated as being a wonderful spouse and mother in the original story, abandons her husband while out dancing with their friends for a night spent with a star player for the local football team. It’s mostly about how the husband tries to reconcile his wife’s behavior with his previous notion of her and how he tries to pick up the pieces of such a cruel and public betrayal.
