every pilot does this, that way you have space on both sides of the runway in case something happens and you're NOT close to the edge of the runway. You learn this in your first couple of lessons when getting your private license.

I like when you get to the point that you can "see" where the nose wheel is without actually seeing and can track it accordingly. Visualizing the tracking. Works great both on the ground and in the air.
 
I remember when I was working on my instrument rating, my instructor had me do a simulated 0/0 takeoff. Wearing foggles from brake release to pattern altitude using only the DG and AI was a little unnerving but he said I tracked right down the centerline.
 
I just stumbled on this, and my first thought was, 'I wonder how many of this bunch has been to Oshkosh?' I spent every summer there when I was a teen. I loved talking to pilots of different craft. (But as a teen girl, I was realistic and only flirted with the CAPpies.)

Been there several times, started when I was 17, too.
