pretty planes

I do not get the excitement over the movie prop. Its not real, it doesn't fly, its made of fiberglass and wood. Its nothing. The real deal was off to the left, SR-71 955. Now that is something to be excited to see, but no, everyone is ogling over the movie prop.

I guess because, prop or not, it was designed by SKUNKWORKS, so it has some legitimacy

It would be interesting to know what they have operating quietly, especially now the F117 is semi retired. I know the Raptor is the replacement, but ....
F-117 is fully retired from military service. NASA still flies one for research, but they are no longer flying in the AF. They were retired many years ago.

Not sure what is going on here but either this guy hasn't been trained or it's spoof video.

Nope, there are specific actions that have to be taken when jet fuel spills as it's a hazardous material. The Fire & Rescue has to be called out and have to standby in case of fires/sparks. Also, there is a 55 gallon or larger drum of sand/kitty litter that is used when a fuel spill happens. NO ONE would be using paper towels as now they're a hazard for a fire.

It creates an environmental hazard, as well. So, it has to be cleaned up in a specific manner and procedure. Paper Towels are NOT part of that procedure.

ok, there are several issues with this accident.

1. If you're flying skydivers over the field, you ANNOUNCE WHEN AND WHERE! Hopefully he was - but if he wasn't then that was a major part of the accident. YOU ALWAYS ANNOUNCE WHEN AND WHERE YOU ARE AND WHEN DROPPING SKYDIVERS!

2. The second plane probably wasn't listening on the common frequency because he was in an active skydiver area. If a skydive area is active, it should be announced on the common frequency, and you're supposed to stay CLEAR OF THE AREA.

Even in an active area, you're supposed to keep an eye out for other planes. Obviously neither of these pilots did. However, with a high wing, it's difficult to see anything above you.

Possibly both pilots were in error and unfortunately it costs some lives.
