In fact, the only story of mine that really did this collaboration thing right is Summer Road Trip, where essentially, SlaveDragon and I alternated threads.
Yeah, I hear ya. It's especially hard with large stories, since prospective writers are less likely to read through the 17 prevoius threads carefully enough to feel comfortable adding on yet another one.
My Live-In-Slave is a pretty good compromise; it's essentially me and one other author and we trade off a lot.
